리우 발라르타 - 올 인클루시브(Riu Vallarta - All Inclusive)

The hotel itself could use a bit of updating (rooms, bathrooms, restaurants) but the staff everywhere in this hotel was absolutely fantastic! So nice and helpful!! Thanks for making our trip to RIU PV so much fun!!!

Had everything you needed. Things I would have changed is that there is zero Mexican food. They have a small station at the buffet which is good but I was definitely bummed not to get that experience and we had to go off campus to find it. Food does the job but the fanciest restaurants were the worst. Service everywhere was amazing per usual. Very hard workers and always so friendly. Room had broken tv and no working outlets. Called twice to have someone fix it and by then we decided to just go without and enjoy unplugging. They did offer to fix it so it was our ultimate decision to not taken them up on it. Beach was beautiful and pools were big and spaced out. About 30 mins from downtown and they don’t cover cabs so it does get pricey but worth the drive forsure!

We loved the stay. It was very enjoyable! The only complaint we had was the stairs from the lobby to the ground where the restaurants, entertainment and beach was. My husband has a bad leg and uses a walking stick. It was very difficult for him to get up and down the stairs 2-3 times a day. They need an elevator that is close to the stairs in the lobby for people with disabilities.

I’ve stayed at a lot of all inclusive resorts in Mexico. Riu Vallarta is by far my least favorite. There is one non-buffet restaurant. The restaurants are supposedly no reservations required (first come, first serve). However, the steak house takes reservations for those that get in line at 5:30 to put their names on a list. Anyone that shows up after 5:30 is out of luck!! Very ridiculous policy! The $500 resort credit is really two $15 coupons for the spa or other options that are not included in the all inclusive. You must go online to get confirmation from the resort to get the coupons. After 5 days, we never got confirmation and never got a single coupon. The resort credit is a scam! I will steer clear of any Riu in the future. The staff was good but the Riu brand is definitely a huge disappointment!

Beautiful resort! The staff was helpful and extremely professional! We stayed for our honeymoon and my husband’s birthday and it was a great adventure and extremely comfortable stay

It was very clean, someone was always cleaning! We also liked all the pool options. The view from our room was amazing- we could watch the whales. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There could be more lunch options by the pool area and kept filled. The activity department could have left out the fun stuff, corn hole had to be put away and couldn’t be used but only for a bit, they were also missing bags for the game. The volleyball net was taken down when numerous people were in the middle of playing, that happened on a couple occasions, it seemed to us the activity people wanted to put the minimum amount of time in and be done. Would also be nice to have music playing by one of the pools. When first arriving there was an issue with the elevator, it like dropped a floor, that happened to us 2x, SCARY!! A person had a drink and half of it split from the drop as we all were screaming. Overall, it was a great, we always have good experiences with RIU!

The bed was hard as a rock and completely uncomfortable. It felt like I was sleeping on a boxspring not a mattress. Was so happy to get home and catch up on sleep as I couldn’t sleep on the bed.

The layout of the facility was decent. The food meh to bad. Food options and quality were not good. If you think people are going to be fighting to serve you around the pool you’re in for a surprise because they don’t have enough workers or staff. There was serious construction and renovation in the main lobby when we were there. Overall, very economical and if you have young kids and want to flex that you took a beach vacation on a budget this is the place for you. I feel like we got what we paid for, but just wanted to write a honest review for people thinking that they are getting a “deal” when they book it that they will get what they pay for.

Lack of vegetation options. Food items are NOT properly labeled. So look closely if you have food allergies and/or preferences. The Japanese restaurant and Italian restaurant were below average. It seems they were short staff because someone asking for drinks at a pool rarely came around. Grounds were beautiful. No stores are within walking distance. The money exchange booth was conveniently located in the lobby.
