Hôtel le Martray

Thank you Le Martray! It has taken me some time to write this review, however I wanted to express my gratitute to Laurent and the Le Martray team. My husband and I planned our wedding about a year in advance, and we are so happy to have chosen Le Martray as our venue. They were so helpful during the planning process- as we planned the entire wedding abroad! (I am French, living in Ecuador with my Ecuadorian husband) Laurent was always in contact with us over the months and was so patient with our changes in plans. We wanted our wedding to be held on Ile de Re, and our wish came true! My husband and I stayed at the hotel along with a large portion of our wedding party. Everyone won't stop talking about how well they ate and slept. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Above all, the kindness of the staff was definitely memorable. For many guests, this was their first trip to France and Le Matray made it feel extra special for them! Not to mention it was a perfectly-sized venue for and 80-person party. The staff helped us decorate the space and organize our evening. I didn't have to worry about all the small details since the staff did their best to make sure the night went smoothly. All of our guests had so much fun and described the event as "magical" . The food was superb, everyone had more than enough to eat and only had compliments to give to the kitchen. We asked that the kitchen make a special Ecuadorian soup to be served around midnight. Not only did they honor our request, but they made the soup perfectly and impressed our Ecuadorians! The description here of LOVELY applies to an number of things. Room, bathroom, location, staff, food, wine etc etc…. It might have been a chance choice for us, (thanks to TA) but a visit definitely worth repeating. Very conveniently located for visiting Loix, Ars en Ré and La Couarde by bike. Plenty of spots to buy sea salt from the local salines, huîtres and the new potatoes from local producteurs within a short walking distance down the cycle/footpaths. Breakfast good, but the meal in the evening took superlatives to a much higher level. For the fish intolerant one of us there was a trailblazing creamy burrata tart, followed by a superb mushroom and spinach risotto, (though some interesting meat based options were tempting) However the assiette fruits de mer, followed by mouclade brought serious smiles (both before, during and after the meal) to the face of the other one of us Easy parking outside, though this was not high season, and the beach is literally across the road. However this is a working beach, as beds of huîtres could be seen at low tide. Would return here at the drop of a hat. Good wifi… once you’d worked out how to log on. A propos earlier review, current manager/owner (?) had excellent English should someone need that. No idea if that applies to the rest of the staff.

Cet hôtel n'est pas référencé par TripAdvisor, pourtant,il mérite de le connaitre. Nous n'avons pas été déçu par notre séjour. L'hôtel est en excellent état, les chambres, au nombre de 15, sont charmantes, mais l'isolation phonique aurait pu être meilleure. L'accueil sympathique et l'établissement très bien tenu. Il se situe dans l'endroit le plus étroit de l'île et d'un petit coup de pédale, sur un vélo loué sur place, vous vous retrouvez dans les marais ou bien sur la côte océane. De toute façon ces derniers vous seront plus utiles et plus agréables, d'autant plus que vous pourrez laisser votre voiture dans le parking face à l'hôtel. Seule la proximité de la route peut être reprochable lorsque la fréquentation augmente.

Jolie hôtel, endroit idéal pour passer un séjour sur l'île de Ré, au bord de la mer. L'accueil est chaleureux, les propriétaires ainsi que les personnes qui y travaillent sont sympathiques. Le confort et la déco sont au rendez-vous (literie parfaite). Le petit déjeuner (buffet) est très bien, de qualité, comme les repas du soir pris au restaurant, excellents.... réalisés avec des produits du terroir, de qualité. Des vélos sont disponibles à la location, sur place, c'est pratique. Nous recommandons vivement cet endroit.

Très bel hôtel , très bien situé, proche des plages du nord de l’île ! Très bon accueil avec un restaurant qui propose de déjeuner ou dîner ! Des bons plats avec des possibilités de déguster les fruits de mer de l’île ! A ne pas manquer pour passer un très bon séjour dans cet établissement !

A éviter,des moules cuites depuis deux jours, réchauffées, sèches avec du jus sans aucun goût dessus...... viande demandée saignante reçue très cuite et dure...... enfin une catastrophe culinaire ,sans oublier un coût super fait du menu....☹️
