Perfect stay. Well appointed room, huge bathroom with shower, separated WC area, double sink. Very quitet, great curtains. Excellent 4-course menui on half board. Nice heated outdoor pool with jacuzzi, big indoor pool. Plenty of sun beds. Great relax area. Shuttle bus to the train station and Last but not least, very professional staff. Unfortunately I only remeber the name of Max form the reception but everybody else also deserve a specials thanks. The young man who drove the shuttle, the young waiter who speaks italian etc

Historic gem a short steep walk (or shuttle bus, or 12 CHF taxi) from the station. German Nobel Prize winning author Thomas Mann came to the Waldhotel frequently a century ago and announced his exile from Hitler’s Germany while staying in the hotel in 1933. Scenes from his novel Buddenbrooks are set here. Lovely service; you may have to book supper before you arrive (we didn’t - a wedding party had filled the restaurant both evenings we were there) and do book the shuttle bus to be sure you have a place. Buffet breakfast truly outstanding - some nice touches like the ‘push this button to get a freshly cut pat of Swiss butter’ to the press-your-own apple/carrot/ginger/cucumber juice machine and great smoked salmon. Egg bar …. in fact everything except bacon, kippers and black pudding. Single rooms remarkably good value (at about half the rate of a double). But then the double room we had was huge. The restaurant looks pretty modern but clearly standards of 'modern' are much stricter here: it’s going to get a complete makeover in the autumn of 2022. To be recommended. We’re already looking forward to a repeat visit !
