칼라 갈다나 호텔 & 빌라 달한다르

This is a 4* hotel. It’s in a good position facing south & overlooking the sea and a lovely bay. It has a large reception area with lots of seating. The staff are very friendly and helpful. First impression of our room was a bit disappointing, it was a bit sparse! The “wardrobe” is just an alcove in the wall with no door with 2 VERY small drawers. All the rooms only have juliette balconies that is the full width of the room but is only about a foot deep. I should have realised that from the photographs! There are 2 chairs in the room, a plastic one and an uncomfortable wooden one. There is a kettle in the room and on arrival there were 2 sachets of coffee, 2 tea bags and 2 sugars but no milk. The next day I asked reception about the milk they said they don’t provide it, also the coffee & tea bags are NOT replaced, the receptionist said “The 2 coffee & tea bags are a gift for your arrival”! Is this penny pinching or what? The hotel has a spa – a sauna etc and a spa room. The spa room has to be booked, we booked to go in one day but quite honestly it’s seen better days! The hot tub temperature was barely warm . . . . it should be about 100 F, this one wasn’t! We came out after about a few minutes. The swimming pool is spotlessly clean but the usual sun bed brigade are out early putting towels on the beds as soon as staff put the sun beds out and leaving them there for ages, even though there is a sign saying not to do so. The evening entertainment is better than average and it’s outside on a stage by the pool. Bathroom/toilet doesn’t have an extractor, never known that in a hotel. There is a bus stop directly opposite the hotel entrance that will take you to Mahon. And Ciutadella in about 30 minutes. Busses to Ciutadella are 09.45, 10.10, 13.20 etc and return 10.40, 14.00 and 21.00. If you are bed & breakfast there are a couple of nice restaurants very close to the hotel. Turn left after the main entrance and there is Cala Mitjana and next door is Trevi, both good. Also restaurant bar & Tapas Alaska along the front is good. Personally speaking this hotel is not 4* it’s more like a 3* plus. We wouldn’t return.

Lovely hotel. Location is excellent, a short pleasant walk to the beautiful beach. Very clean , rooms are well equipped, shower excellent. Rooms on the front of hotel have a great view and sun all day. Rooms on the back face a cliff so not great view but quieter on an evening when entertainment is by the pool. Staff work so hard , cleaners , bar and restaurant staff , all friendly. Buffet restaurant was good for breakfast and dinner. We always managed to find something, wide variety for both meals. Rooms serviced daily. Transfer from airport approximately 45 minutes via coach transfer. The resort itself is very quiet but that suited us for a relaxing week .
