The Andiron Seaside Inn & Cabins

The more prepared you are for this place, the better. There's partial ocean views. Excellent private beach across Hwy 1. Comfy, homey, retro. Privacy. But: If you plan to cook in the kitchenette, bring everything, including cookware. What's provided is cheapo Teflon-style pots and plastic spatulas. Same with supplies. They provide coffee beans and grinder and fresh eggs (seasonal), but other than that, only salt, pepper, and some oil spray for coating a pan. The closest decent market is several miles away. Also be prepared to (rather severely) conserve water. Western Mendocino in general is very dry, the populace and visitors depend on wells unless you're next to a river. There are plenty of fluffy towels though.

This review is long overdue. I adore this place. Madeline, Scott, Kate, the goats, the chickens, the quirky themed rooms, the Happy Hours under the tent, the hot tub in the woods, everything about it. We've stayed in all 11 cabins and all are wonderfully unique, comfy, cozy, and warm. We rented the Inn out earlier this year to celebrate my and my spouse's 25th wedding anniversary and were able to share this gem with so many friends, who, no doubt, will begin their journey through all the rooms. Every time we go it's like going home. Plus, we've made friends with other guests that we see the same time every year! It is a magical place. Do yourself a favor and experience it yourself.

We recently stayed at the Andiron w/ two friends of ours and had a lovely time. The rooms are full of character and fun, and Scott and Madeline just think of everything. They’ve made us feel at home w/ two of our dogs, and the area is just gorgeous. They serve up a great happy hour, and hanging w/ their goats is great. Totally recommend this place!

Highly recommend staying here. The cottages all have their own personality, cool decor and the vibe at the location is relaxing, firepits and hot tubs so comfy. Madeleine makes you feel so welcome. I think they have a dozen cottages so this place would be pretty perfect for a corporate executive team offsite - you can rent it all out if you plan in advance.

I found myself in a difficult situation while in California as a single father with an 11-year-old son. We were staying in a work trade agreement and when the job ended, I was afraid we would be without shelter. Luckily, the wonderful owners of the Andiron saw my plea for community help and generously donated to enable us to stay in our humble cabin. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for their assistance and how rare it is to encounter strangers who care so deeply about their community, especially those who are newcomers themselves. The Andiron Cabins Seaside Inn and Cabins are not only a fantastic addition to Mendocino County as contributing members of the community, but they also offer a delightful, quirky, and exceptional place for anyone seeking to escape their daily routine. They showcase local musicians and regularly host local events. The happy hour is a great way to unwind and guests are sometimes surprised with free gifts. Overall, I give them a ten out of ten rating and highly recommend them.

Warm and welcoming the moment we walked in! Music playing, nostalgic surroundings, fireplace burning - we are so glad we chose cabin #9. Awesome retro camel bar with bubbly, 2 fireplaces, plush king bed, 2 bathrooms - one with a jacuzzi. From our spacious deck we viewed sweeping grounds set on a hillside, plus pet goats and chickens. But better yet, the friendly and warm hosts who take care to make your visit a wonderful experience. We will be back!
