We recently returned from what we had hoped would be a relaxing and enjoyable break in Crete, unfortunately, our experience at this hotel fell significantly short of expectations. We were warmly greeted by the reception team on arrival, which gave us hope for a positive stay. However, issues began almost immediately. I had read reviews about challenges booking the à la carte restaurants, so I emailed the hotel three weeks in advance to secure reservations. I was told bookings could not be made in advance, but not to worry, availability wouldn’t be a problem. Sadly, this was not the case. Upon check-in, we were directed to a restaurant booking rep who simply told us to use the app. We soon found out that many guests staying for two weeks had already booked out the best restaurant slots, leaving us with very limited options. We managed to get a single booking for the Asian restaurant, the only time available was 9:00pm, far too late for us. Our room with shared pool was nothing like the photos shown on the BA website, and while we understood it wasn't part of the Cool Living upgrade, we were still disappointed by the lack of basic amenities. No water was provided on arrival, the fridge was empty, and there were no coffee pods, just an empty holder. When I queried this at reception, I was told there should have been water, and I could walk to the main hotel to collect some. Speaking of walking, if you're not in Cool Living, be prepared for a long uphill hike in 30°C heat just to get water or a drink. The shared pool rooms are located far from the main facilities, which quickly became inconvenient. We raised the issue of upgrading (fully willing to pay) but the process was unclear and frustrating. We were told to state which room we wanted, though staff wouldn’t provide information on what was actually available, and were promised a follow-up the next day. No one ever got back to us. We stayed in what was described as a Nest Suite with shared pool, which sounded luxurious — but in reality, it was cramped and impractical. The room was extremely small and the bathroom layout was bizarre. I’m not a particularly large person, yet I physically couldn’t fit into the shower, which was less than 500mm wide, effectively forcing you to shower in the bathroom itself. As for the "shared pool" — what we actually had was more akin to a plunge pool shared with other guests, and the outdoor space between the room and the pool was barely usable. The table and chairs provided were wedged so tightly that simply moving a chair meant risking falling directly into the pool. Even worse, the pool ladder was blocked by the furniture, making it difficult to enter the pool safely or comfortably at all. The buffet breakfast was average at best. Unlike most resorts where you're seated and drinks are offered, here you're expected to fend for yourself, and the options didn’t vary much throughout our stay. By Friday 27th June (we had arrived Tuesday 24th), we finally managed to ge
