Semporna is an interesting place to visit, with several islands surrounded by coral reefs for snorkeling and diving, more beautiful than many other snorkeling spots worldwide. Staying at this hostel instead of moving to an island resort is a good way to budget. And not only that, the fish market in Semporna is the most incredible one I have seen, seafood like lobsters, large shrimps, crabs so fresh, not even the one at Kota Kinabalu can be compared good as it was too. The DZ hostel lady staff was very helpful and can arrange for island trips at a reasonable price. The dorms are separated into boys and girls, something I truly appreciate. The bathrooms faced the afternoon sun, so they were dried easily and kept clean. Laundry by machine was offered free, a super plus for swimmers. The hostel also offered local Malay snack food for breakfast, and coffee or tea were always available. To be honest, it's a good budget place to stay while splurging on the island tours. It's a bit sad that no cooking is allowed here, even though there was a kitchen. Sad because the seafood mentioned above was so available. The facade of the building is nothing to boast about, and like many places, the external (streets, pavement, eyc) can be a mess. That should not deter visiting this part of the world mainly because the sea in this area is astoundingly replenished with marine life.

Tanini sepilok was a good value for money however, the area is a bit secluded from Sandakan and it’s hard to find grab or food around. The restaurant was limited in breakfast but we didn’t mind. The walk to Rainforest and Orang Utan sanctuary was close and quick.

가족룸을 예약했는데, 큰 침대 하나와 작은 침대 하나가 있어서 좋았습니다. 방은 매우 작았고 시설이 노후했습니다. 짐이 많지 않았는데도 놓을 공간이 없어 바닥에 두어야 했습니다. 청소 상태는 괜찮았고 침구는 비교적 깨끗했습니다. 하지만 화장실 시설이 노후하여 위생 상태는 그저 그랬습니다. 위치는 마을 중심부에 있어 아주 좋았고, 아침 식사할 만한 곳들도 모두 가까웠습니다. 사장님은 현지인이셨고, 중국어는 안 되지만 간단한 영어로 소통할 수 있었습니다. 기본적인 서비스는 거의 기대하기 어려웠지만, 낮에 주로 스쿠버 다이빙을 하는 여행객에게는 임시 숙소로 가성비가 아주 훌륭했습니다.

hye. the lady at front counter very amazing, very friendly and helpful. the room is also tidy, just nice for 1-2 traveller. however, there are some amenities that are broken..the plug in the room is broken, so i can only use one plug. and the door at the ladies toilet also broken and very dangerous because it can. falll and hit others. i hope the technical and management team are aware of this. they need to check often. other than that im satisfied. especially the location since it is very very near to the entrance of imago mall.

위치는 좋았지만, 옷을 갈아입고 싶어서 하룻밤만 묵었습니다. 방은 작았고 배낭으로 가득 차 있어서 움직이기 불편했고, 바닥에는 머리카락이 널려 있었습니다. 방은 매우 추웠는데 온도 조절 리모컨도 없었습니다. 세면대 수압이 약하고 물도 잘 나오지 않았지만, 그래도 따뜻한 물은 나왔습니다. 화장지도 없었습니다. 도착했을 때 첫인상이 좀 이상했는데, 리셉션 공간이 좁고 남자들이 소파에 앉아 휴대폰만 만지작거리고 있었기 때문입니다. 아마 주인 지인들인 것 같았습니다. 게다가 강하고 불쾌한 냄새가 났습니다.

백 주간 근무하시는 머리 스카프를 두른 여자 직원분이 정말 친절했어요! 영어 소통도 아주 원활했고, 매우 적극적으로 도와주셨습니다. 갑자기 제 캐리어에 문제가 생겨서 열리지 않았는데, 그 직원분이 바로 남자 직원분을 불러서 도와주셨고, 결국 두 분이 성공적으로 캐리어를 열어주셨어요! 정말 감사했습니다! 저는 1번 방을 배정받았는데, 온수기가 있어서 수압과 수온 모두 좋았습니다. 화장실도 예상보다 훨씬 깨끗했고요. 다만 문 잠금장치가 좀 허술해서 외출할 때 문을 어떻게 잠가야 할지 잠깐 헤맸네요.😂 마을의 같은 가격대 다른 숙소들과 비교했을 때, 여기는 가성비가 정말 좋다고 생각해요. 부두에서 거리가 좀 멀어서 저희가 바다에 나가는 날에는 여기 묵지 않았지만, 만약 낮에 시간이 촉박하지 않다면 이곳은 아주 좋은 선택이 될 겁니다.
