Woodland adventures for home educating families.
Join us for a fun-filled time at Shaw Wood!
These sessions take place on a Monday every month.
Directions will be included in your booking confirmation, please look out for this!
The sessions finish at 12:30pm, but you are free to leave earlier if you need to.
Please note, there is no toilet in this woodland - wild wee behind a tree is the natural facilities on offer!
There will be different things happening at each session, dependant upon the weather, season, and the interests of the group.
Please dress for the weather, with several layers and waterproofs. In autumn and winter it can get very chilly in the woods and you will have a far better experience if you are warm and dry. Sturdy footwear is essential for the uneven and often muddy woodland paths.
In summer it can still be cool under the dappled shade of the trees and we suggest long sleeves and trousers whatever the weather to help avoid stings and bites.
Please bring your own packed lunch.
A reminder that adults are responsible for the safety of their children throughout these sessions.
We will be there to meet you at the woodland clearing at 10am.
Directions and parking information:
The entrance to the woodland can be found on the B6013 at Ambergate between Woodside Grove Camping and Caravans and Holly Bank House. Look out for the purple 'Shaw Woods' sign. A great way to navigate here is by using the what3words app with eggplants.scrum.slugs
There is limited parking through the metal gate which will be unlocked and open for you to access the area from 9.30am. Please park closely so as we can all fit in. If there is no space left you will find a layby opposite Woodside Grove Camping and Caravans which is just a very short walk away.
Once parked walk past the blue barrier and up the short hill until you see our signs on the left.
REFUNDS: Please be aware that we are unable to refund tickets with less than 7 days notice. For refunds issued with more than 7 days notice, we are unable to refund the Eventbrite booking fee portion of your tickets.
To ensure safety for all participants and leaders, a session can be cancelled or postponed by Woodland Connections at very short notice due to forecast high winds or thunderstorms. If a suitable alternative date is not available, we will refund the full cost of the session. We will advise you if this decision has to be made either the evening before or morning of the session. Please check for emails or texts.

Trip.com을 통해 예약하는 건 정말 쉽고 빨랐어요. 클릭만 하면 5분도 안 돼서 티켓이 이메일로 도착했어요. 시간 입력 옵션이 있는데, 사실 원하는 시간으로 설정할 수 있어요. 선택한 시간까지 기다릴 필요가 없어요. 긴 바지/치마/원피스를 입으세요. 안 그러면 가격이 오른 코끼리 바지와 사롱을 파는 사람들에게 둘러싸일 거예요. 왕궁과 에메랄드 사원 티켓을 구매하고, 출구로 나가면 바로 왓 포로 가서 티켓을 다시 구매한 후 페리를 타고 왓 아룬으로 건너가서 다시 티켓을 구매하세요. 소매치기나 무슨 일로든 말을 걸거나 막는 사람들을 조심하세요. 정말 어떤 일이든요. 계속 걸어가세요. 즐거운 시간 보내세요.

저희 가족은 호텔에서 정시에 픽업되었습니다. 사파리에는 얼룩말, 사자, 하마, 코뿔소, 곰 등 다양한 동물들이 있었습니다. 차는 천천히 운전해서 사진과 영상을 찍을 수 있도록 해주었습니다. 약 30분 후, 기사님이 마린 파크에 내려주셨습니다. 마린 파크는 다양한 동물 쇼를 구경하며 산책할 수 있는 곳입니다. 공연 시간을 확인해 보세요. 저희는 오랑우탄 쇼를 정말 보고 싶었지만 놓쳤습니다. 코끼리, 바다사자, 돌고래, 카우보이 스턴트 쇼 등 다른 쇼들은 정말 재미있었습니다. 앵무새, 올빼미, 아기 호랑이, 원숭이(아니면 오랑우탄이었을까요?) 같은 동물들과 사진을 찍으려면 비용을 지불해야 합니다. 어떤 동물들은 400바트, 어떤 동물들은 700바트였습니다. 전자 결제가 가능하니 현금이 부족할 걱정은 하지 마세요. 15분짜리 사파리 리버 라이드(제 이름이 맞는지 잘 모르겠네요)도 탔는데, 1인당 380바트였어요. 패키지에 포함된 점심 식사는 괜찮았어요. 전반적으로 괜찮은 가격이었어요.

트립에서 티켓을 구매하는 게 현장에서 직접 구매하는 것보다 훨씬 저렴했어요. 원하는 만큼 타고 내릴 수 있고요. 작은 책자를 받아서 다음 정류장과 할 수 있는 활동을 확인할 수 있었어요. 책자에는 각 정류장별 배 시간표도 적혀 있었어요. 오후 4시에 투어를 시작했는데, 프라 아팃(Phra Arthit)에서 출발하는 마지막 배가 오후 6시 30분이라 다 둘러볼 수가 없었어요. 여유롭게 둘러보고 쇼핑할 시간을 충분히 갖고 싶다면 정오쯤, 아니면 원래 시간보다 일찍 투어를 시작하는 게 좋을 것 같아요. 왕랑(Wang Lang) 시장에서 맛있는 브라우니를 사 먹었어요. 다음에는 꼭 (훨씬 일찍) 다시 와서 둘러봐야겠어요!
