Her extensive research at Rice University centered around the intersection of spatial identity constructions and religious formations within black communities. Utilizing social-scientific methods, black religious thought, and critical theory, Dr. Chapman illuminates the intricate movements and cultural life of black religious formation. Currently, she is crafting her first monograph, which explores the fascinating connection between religion and black nerd communities, as well as black cosplay.
