Rimma Sushanskaya - virtuoso violinist and conductor Internationally-acclaimed violinist Rimma Sushanskaya, the last pupil of the great David Oistrakh at the Moscow Conservatoire, has won numerous prestigious awards. Upon leaving the Soviet Union, she quickly established a glowing reputation in the West. The Washington Post described her as “one of the greatest violinists alive today,” noting her “extraordinary intensity and brilliant virtuosity.” Rimma Sushanskaya embarked on a successful conducting career, performing in concert halls across Germany, Russia, Israel, Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Switzerland, China, and the United Kingdom. She has conducted in prestigious venues such as Gewandhaus (Leipzig), Philharmonic Hall and Konzerthaus (Berlin), Philharmonic Hall (Kharkov), and Tonhalle (Zurich). She has conducted orchestras including the Berlin Sinfonietta, Neues Sinfonia Orchestra (Berlin), Leipzig Chamber Orchestra, Kharkov Philharmonic, St. Petersburg State Orchestra, State Philharmonic of Satu Mare, and the Orchestra of the Swan (UK). Sushanskaya made her acclaimed London debut with the National Symphony Orchestra at Cadogan Hall in 2017, conducting  Pictures at an Exhibition  and  La Valse.  In 2021, she was appointed Principal Associate Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra, with which she has a special relationship. Together, they have given successful performances across the country and produced recordings of major orchestral works. National Symphony Orchestra of Great Britain The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) is one of Britain's longest-established and most versatile professional freelance orchestras. Known for its impressive recorded legacy and dynamic live performances, the NSO connects with audiences through its commitment and passion. Under the leadership of Managing Director Justin Pearson, the orchestra has found renewed energy and direction. During the 2020 COVID pandemic, the NSO was the first to return to Air Lyndhurst studios, recording Debbie Wiseman’s score for “To Olivia” and featuring in Netflix’s “The Crown”. It has recorded scores for Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday celebrations and continues to perform for significant events. With Principal Associate Conductor Rimma Sushanskaya, they released recordings of Mozart, Beethoven, and others. The orchestra topped classical charts with “The Glorious Garden” and “Musical Zodiac,” and featured in the soundtrack for “Edie.” Collaborations with Debbie Wiseman and Stephen Fry led to a no.1 classical chart disc for Fry’s “Mythos.” Annual performances on Cunard’s RMS Queen Mary 2 and concerts for Warner Leisure Hotels highlight their continued success. Founded in the 1940s, the NSO has a rich history of recording and performing across various genres, including classical, film, TV scores, and musicals. Based in London, the NSO performs nationwide, drawing players from across the UK and attracting large audiences to prestigious venues like The Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. The orchestra's extensive recording legacy includes over 40 complete musicals and notable collaborations with esteemed conductors and composers.
