Playwriting for the Actor is an introduction to playwriting course offered every Thursday afternoon from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, running from 22nd February to 4th April 2024. This six-week course is designed for aspiring playwrights who want to develop their writing skills. Led by established playwrights, participants will explore the fundamentals of playwriting, gaining the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to progress in this field. The sessions will cover various aspects of playwriting, including finding and developing ideas, understanding narrative structure and plot, developing characters, nurturing individual voice, writing dialogue, and learning how to submit work to producers and theatres. These classes provide a supportive and rigorous environment for writers to hone their craft. It is important to note that participants are required to book all seven sessions as the course is progressive. Playwriting for the Actor is committed to breaking down barriers to access in professional actor-training and welcomes actors from underrepresented groups.
