Fondation Carmignac, CatchLight, and Dysturb present the second edition of Night of Photojournalism on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in Paris, as part of PhotoSaintGermain festival. Produced by these three leading organizations in photojournalism with a shared commitment to harnessing the power of visuals to foster social change and civic engagement, the event will bring together over 100 photographers, journalists, photo editors, visual organizations, creative collectives, and digital content creators. Celebrating innovation in visual journalism, the Night of Photojournalism begins with panel conversations, the launch and opening reception of the CatchLight Global Fellowship Program, and continues into the night with a projected exhibition of photography by celebrated photojournalists from across the globe, accompanied by live music by Laurent Bardainne. It will also include a pop-up bar for connection and networking. The conversations and projections are organized around four themes:
STATE OF THE UNIONExploring the state of democracies around the world in a year where 64 countries will hold elections. Photo essays and discussions will focus on voter rights, the rise of nationalism, and journalism’s role in holding governments accountable during this critical election year, amid shrinking industry resources and evolving approaches to photojournalism. 
WOMENA global examination of women’s rights, from access to education and economic opportunity to healthcare, equal pay, and reproductive rights. 
PLACEA visual exploration of climate change’s impact on the planet, highlighting rising sea levels, melting ice caps, and shifting weather patterns, with photographs bringing to life the data gathered by scientists, giving context to how it impacts human life, and showcasing the beauty of life on earth. 
WINNINGA reflection on the spirit of competition and teamwork, featuring photo essays inspired by the recent Olympic Games and global sporting achievements. With a background in covering conflicts and humanitarian crises for over 15 years, photojournalists Pierre Terdjman and Benjamin Petit founded Dysturb to raise awareness, foster meaningful discussions, and challenge stereotypes. PhotoSaintGermain, 13th edition | photosaintgermain.comThe PhotoSaintGermain festival, organized by the eponymous association, created in 2010 and chaired by Benoît Sapiro, carries out each year a historical and prospective work, making room for emerging talents as well as for the most recognized artists of the history of photography. Organized in the heart of Paris, PhotoSaintGermain is anchored in a particular geography, rich in history and in culture, in the area of Saint-Germain-des-Prés; and seeks to gather and associate all the actors who constitute this particular topography. PhotoSaintGermain proposes a free and open access exhibition tour in a selection of museums, cultural centers, galleries and bookstores on the left bank, presenting a rich and eclectic program proposed by the associated galleries; as well as several original exhibitions and new projects conceived and produced by the festival.
