The popular Beginners Salsa, Bachata & Merengue Dance Class Series is set to return to La Peña in Berkeley. This highly-anticipated event will take place every Monday, starting from March 11 to April 8, 2024. This 4-class series is specially designed for beginners who are eager to learn and enjoy three of the most popular Latin dance styles: Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue. Led by the skilled Venezuelan dance instructor, Juliana Mendonca, this series aims to help students connect with their bodies and the rhythms of these dances before diving into the steps and turns. It is an inclusive class that welcomes individuals of all genders, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ community members. No partner is necessary, making it accessible to everyone. By participating in this class, students will have the opportunity to explore the potential of their bodies and learn how to communicate through dance, rhythm, and flavor. The series tuition cost is $94 for the entire program, and advance registration is required. As an added bonus, students will receive a free ticket to an upcoming BAILA! Community Dance Party. To ensure a safe and inclusive environment, La Peña promotes community agreements, including treating everyone with respect, utilizing thoughtful communication, practicing active listening, and honoring everyone's gender identity and pronouns.
