The inaugural Arts@Work Economic Development Summit is set to take place in Kingsport, Tennessee on September 22nd and 23rd, 2023. This highly anticipated event will shine a spotlight on the flourishing film industry in the region, offering attendees a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a day filled with insightful speakers, interactive workshops, engaging breakout sessions, and much more. Keynote speaker Dan Cox, a native of Kingsport and renowned visual effects supervisor for blockbuster films like Avatar, The Avengers, and Rise of The Planet of the Apes, will share his insights and experiences during the Friday evening session. Additionally, the summit will feature a town hall meeting, portfolio and reel review opportunities for creatives, networking sessions, concurrent workshops with film professionals, and academic paper presentations. The Saturday keynote address will be delivered by esteemed television and film chefs, Chef T and Tanya Cauthen. Attendees can also look forward to film screenings, an exhibit showcasing selected reels from The Overmountain Animation Festival, and the opening of the Eat/Art Space in the Create Appalachia gallery.
