Worth the walk. Be sure and check the tides- you won't hear much if it's low!
The Wave Organ is a quirky, interactive acoustic sculpture located on a jetty in the Marina. I love it. There are pipes extending into the surf and you an lean your ear agains them and listen to the sound of the water sloshing against the rocks. It's also my favorite spot for gazing at the Golden Gate Bridge.
Sheer hope is what leads me to give the Wave Organ five stars. That, and it's free. Wander out into the Bay from Marina Green Park and you'll find this artist-made installation made in partnership with our beloved Exploratorium. Waves crash into the Organ, creating music that I have yet to hear. Even on my second visit, I was not lucky enough to hear the supposed nature-inspired concerto.Next time.
