Chengdu Zhaojue Temple is known as the "First Zen Forest" in Western Sichuan. About the Tang Dynasty, when it was renovated, the temple was renamed "Zhaojue". Many Buddhist temples in Japan and Southeast Asia still regard Zhaojue Temple as ancestral court. In the Song Dynasty, the eminent monk Yuanwu Keqin (formerly FoguoKeqin) lived in Zhaojue Temple twice, and eventually died there. His work "Tea Zen blindly" was regarded as the most precious treasure of tea ceremony by the Japanese.
