薛家花园始建于1890年，建成于1894年，是清末无锡籍著名思想家、外交家、资产阶级维新派代表人物薛福成的宅第。 薛家花园中轴线前后共6进，由门厅、轿厅、正厅、房厅以及转盘楼等组成， 另有藏书楼、东花园、后花园、西花园等。 占地总面积21000平方米，现恢复12000平方米，修复建筑面积6000余平方米。整组建筑气势雄伟，规模恢宏，体现了清末西风东渐的时代特征， 中西合壁的建筑风格，填补了中国建筑史上的空白。

It is not to bad. I have seen better gardens but still worth a visit. Entrance is 25rmb.. I would sugst cash but you can use wechat/alipay. There is some english that tells you the history and importance of the garden. Good way to spend 1hour or so.

Not far from Qian's residence was Xue Fucheng's former residence. He did not know that Li Hongzhang had such an aide and died for his country in the battle against France and Zhenhai. It's a big surprise today. It's rare to see such a well-preserved official residence. It is a national key cultural relic protection building. I recommend you to visit Wuxi if you have the chance.
