The Grand Theatre of Pompeii is located at the easternmost end of Pompeii. It was founded in the 1st century B.C. and can accommodate nearly 20,000 people. It is the oldest amphitheater in ancient Rome. It is more than 40 years earlier than the Colosseum in Rome. There are three floors of auditorium, the top of which still retains the pillars supporting the roof.
