Pingyao's Confucian Temple, also known as the Confucian Temple School Palace, was built in the early years of Zhenguan in the Tang Dynasty. Among them, Dacheng Hall was rebuilt in Jin Dading three years (AD 1163). It has a history of more than 800 years. It has remained the original appearance so far. It is the oldest existing Confucian Temple at all levels in China and the most complete preserved Confucian Temple complex in China. The main ancient buildings in Pingyao Temple are Wenchang Pavilion, Kuixing Tower, Shipaifang, Wenchang Temple under the wall, Yunlufang, Zhuangyuan Bridge, Shadow Wall, Weixing Gate, Panchi, Dacheng Gate, Dacheng Hall, Minglun Hall, Jingyi Pavilion, Zunjing Pavilion, East-West Luzhou, Rixinzhai, Shixizhai, axillary door, chamber, kitchen, shrine and so on. The buildings are simple and elegant. All kinds of stone carvings and wood carvings are exquisitely crafted. They have high artistic and historical value.
