Restoration Square was built to commemorate Portugal's independence after 60 years of Spanish rule in 1640. The central obelisk of the Square was erected in 1886. The square is very open, the surrounding buildings are also very distinctive, the high obelisk is very momentous, very beautiful. Portuguese patchwork floor tiles are a real feature, and bring this feature to Macau.
