Lingshui Village, now under the jurisdiction of Zhaitang Town, Mentougou District, western Beijing, is located in the northwest of the town area, 12 kilometers away from the town government and 32.5 kilometers away from the government in the southeast. The village is 4 kilometers from National Highway 109. Since the imperial examination system was in vogue in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there have been many successful people in the village, such as Liu Maoheng and Liu Zengguang, so Lingshui has been crowned as "Liren Village" by the local people. Lingshui Village was formed in the Liao and Jin Dynasties. It was not only a huge village with many ancient dwellings in Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also had many gods believed in by the folk in the past. Lingshui Village has beautiful natural scenery and numerous cultural relics and historic sites. Among them, Dongling Stone Man, Xishan Lotus, Nantang North View, Beishan Cuibai, Lingquan Ginkgo biloba, Liren House and Temple Sites have been known as Lingshui Eight Sceneries since ancient times. In November 2005, Lingshui Village was listed by the Ministry of Construction and the State Administration of Cultural Relics as the second batch of "famous historical and cultural villages in China".
