Jilin University Museum is a business unit directly under the school. It has two branches: Geological Museum and Archaeological and Art Museum. Museums are renowned both at home and abroad for their rich collections and distinctive features. They are one of the famous museums of institutions of higher learning in China and even in Asia. The Museum integrates "scientific research, teaching and popularization of science" with a complete range of rock, mineral and fossil specimens, rich collection of cultural relics and archaeological specimens, and rich accumulation of relevant geological and archaeological data. There are more than 20,000 exhibits collected from more than 30 countries and regions all over the country and the world, including the most complete duckbill fossil in Northeast China - Jiayin Kalong, the first dinosaur fossil skeleton unearthed in Jilin Province - Changchun Dragon, oracle bones and bronze wares of Shang Dynasty, Yue Feiyin of Southern Song Dynasty and other handed down treasures. The Museum has a world-class laboratory of microfossil remediation, and the level of fossil remediation is in the lead in China. As a professional venue relying on the construction of colleges and universities, museum science research and international exchanges are quite frequent, especially in recent years "Cretaceous vertebrate fauna in central Jilin" research has achieved a series of important research results at home and abroad.
