'다이아몬드 헤드' 리뷰

It is said that Captain Cook, the first Englishman to discover the Hawaiian Islands, saw blue light coming out of the whole hill at night, shining like sapphire. He thought he had found a diamond, so he called it Diamond Hill, while the local Chinese thought it was like a Wolong. From Wikipedia to Diamond Hill, driving or taking a bus is very convenient. Walking trails are slightly challenging, requiring two groups of 175 steps, sometimes flashlights through dark tunnels or old military bunkers.

One of the most worthwhile places to visit in Hawaii is 360 degree seascape, mountain view and city view. The only drawback is that there are too many tourists! Hiking here requires a pair of comfortable sneakers, and do a good job of anti-slump measures and take water! Diamond Hill, located in Honolulu, Oahu Island, is one of Hawaii's most famous landmarks, close to Waikikiki, which is one of the reasons why there are so many tourists! Diamond Mountain is an extinct volcano formed by volcanic eruption. Its age ranges from 400,000 to 500,000 years, but geologists believe that it erupted for a few days at most. The origin of its name is that when British sailors discovered Diamond Mountain in the 19th century, they mistook the calcite crystal on the beach at the foot of the mountain as a diamond! It also has a Hawaiian name, Le Ahi, which means tuna, because the shape of the Diamond Ridge is a little like the dorsal fin of tuna! You can drive through the tunnel into the volcanic pit of Diamond Mountain. Tickets are $1/pedestrian or $5/car. Cash only! It's open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. all year round, but it's not allowed to go up the mountain at 4:30 p.m. In 1909, the U.S. Army established the earliest military base in Hawaii. At present, there are still about 1.4 kilometers of trails for tourists to reach the top of the mountain. The trails were originally used only for military purposes, and many military facilities such as burrows and tunnels are still preserved on the mountain. Uphill and downhill need special attention to safety, some sections of the stone ladder is very steep, need to pass through the tunnel is also relatively dark! By Youli Zhao
