The Old Meilingshi Trough is a unique landscape. It is located on the beach of Fuguijiao Park. Many photographers come to take pictures with scaffolding. Because of the oil spill in Dexiang Taipei, it may affect this landscape. Fortunately, when I went there, it did not affect it. The nearby Shimen Cave scenic area is closed because of this. We should make a good strategy before we go. Take 862.863 from Freshwater MRT Station to Fuguijiao Lighthouse Station, and then extend a lane to the beach for a few minutes.
It is said that from March to May every year, we can see that only half of the green algae are left when we go there. We must pay attention to the tidal time when we go there. Only when the tide ebbs, the green algae will be fully exposed. It's pretty. You can drive to other scenic spots in northern Taiwan by car.
Old Meilingshi Trough is a small and famous beach bay in Xinbei. The traffic is not too inconvenient. Starting from fresh water in the morning, we can travel along the north coast by bus and walk all the way: Baishawan Beach, Shimen Wedding Garment Square, Fuji Fishing Port, Fuguijiao Lighthouse (the northernmost point of Taiwan), Old Meishi Trough, Shimen Cave, and finally arrive at Jinshan Old Street to stay at Hot Spring Hotel. If you stay, you can go to Lion Mountain Gong.
The Old Mei-Greenstone Trough is one of the most distinctive geological landscapes along the North Coast. This unique ridge geomorphology is the volcanic rock cooled by Datun volcanic lava hundreds of thousands of years ago. After a long period of weathering and wave erosion, it gradually forms vertical coastline and staggered grooves. Every spring, the trench is covered with green algae and exposed to the intertidal zone at the daily ebb. We almost missed the view because it wasn't on my previous trip. Only because of Mr. Chuang's suggestion did we come here. However, because of the rain, I stopped halfway. At this time, an old man came up from the bottom of the trestle road and took a mouthful of Taiwanese accent - "It's beautiful below, so don't go and have a look at it. Because of this kind greeting, I didn't miss this wonder after all. As the waves hit the grooves, the sea water sprayed randomly from the gap between the grooves, splashing like water elves dancing naughtily between the grooves. We have come to the northernmost tip of Taiwan, Fugui Cape. Fuguijiao lighthouse is different from other cylindrical lighthouses. It is octagonal in shape. The lighthouse was built in 1897 A.D. (23 years of Qing Guangxu).
This special "stone trough" topographic landscape, when the northeast monsoon prevails in winter, the waves moisten the rock surface of the trough, and begin to breed green algae such as "stone trough", "schist stone trough" and "flat stone hair". When the northeast monsoon recedes in April, the trough will be filled with a large number of green algae, and also form an amazing "green stone trough" coastal landscape.
The coast of the stone trough is green as velvet and dreamlike because it is covered with algae. The sea surface is windy, the waves roll from afar, and the waves are higher than the waves. When they impact huge black basalt blocks, they spatter. The sparkling waves rush into the Old Meilingshi trough, white and green. The sea water in some green troughs is quiet and blue. It's a beautiful scene. Standing quietly on the coast of the Old Meilingshi trough, watching the sea, the sea breeze is habitual, cool and pleasant. I put my soliloquy in my travel notes - "How nice it is to stay here for a day."
You can take Bus 862 to Fugui Lantern Corner Lighthouse and get off. When you follow the directions to the Lighthouse, you will see a beach down and you will see the old Mei Greenstone Trough. Be careful when you go to see it in the evening. It was raining at about 7 o'clock and the sun was setting. When I went in and tried to shoot with a tripod, I turned around and found that the tide was rising. The sea had already turned around behind me. Although there was no water in the place where I stood, if I found it, I might be surrounded later. If the tide ebbs, it should look better.
This old Meilingshi trough is located in the northern waters of Taiwan. It's a place that local people know. I'm really lucky to have a local friend bring me here to know that Taiwan has this place besides Yangming Mountain. But it only grows in April and May. We should pay attention to the season.
