Located on a hill west of Lisbon, the cathedral has a huge dome that can be seen from a distance, blending the late architectural styles of Baroque and Neoclassicism. There are two double bell towers in front, including beautiful statues of saints and some allegorical figures.
Ashtrella Church is located in Ashtrella Square (Pra&_adaEstrela). The white facade is holy and solemn, and the sculpture is simple and elegant. Queen Maria I of Portugal, who gave birth to her first son, Prince Josze, was willing to build it. The temple was built in 1779 and completed in 1790. The little prince died of smallpox infection in 1788, when the temple was not yet completed. It can be reached at Estrela Station by 25E, 28E, 713, 720, 738, 773 and 774 buses.
