There's more than just the cathedral here. There's a statue of Alexander II there and some great street performers. Just be aware that there are a lot of stair to get to the cathedral.
Scenic Senate Square is a must-see in Helsinki. There is free wifi in the downtown area and good transport links in all weather. The steps to the cathedral are slippery in snow and ice, but the square is beautiful in all seasons.
