4/5We bought the transportation package at the tour office next to Dunhuang Train Station for 100 Yuan each, bought our own tickets and meals and they sent us to our hotel after the day trip. They brought us to the Crescent Lake and the Desert (which are in the same place) and Mogao Grottos. Grottos ticket 238 Yuan including the presentation in 2 different rooms, a tour guide, 8 cave visits and internal bus. The guide gave us the earphone as she speaks very softly. She led us to view the caves and explained in Mandarin. We didn't buy the tickets having English speaking guide. The site is large, looks nice, well organized for tourists, has newly built buildings to protect the remaining caves inside so it looks not authentic enough to me. The statues and artworks look so nice. The trip ended in about 2 hours.
5/5Amazing place to visit close to Dunhuang! The two mandatory movies before heading to the grottos was annoying. however, once you are at the grottos, that annoyance is quickly forgotten. What sets this grotto apart from the other famous ones in China is the free English guides (french and german as well i think). i went in the off season and had an English guide to myself. it was very educational, and made the Mogao grottos more significant amd memorable than other grottos.
4/5Hello everyone. The mogao Grottoes near dunhaung city is an very unique place and even due I don't much understand in archeology, I definitely impressed from the Tour and all the stories behind the Grottoes. In addition, I would say that even that there was an impressive movies, guide and shuttle to the site, I think the price it's little bit expensive.
