We bought the transportation package at the tour office next to Dunhuang Train Station for 100 Yuan each, bought our own tickets and meals and they sent us to our hotel after the day trip. They brought us to the Crescent Lake and the Desert (which are in the same place) and Mogao Grottos. Grottos ticket 238 Yuan including the presentation in 2 different rooms, a tour guide, 8 cave visits and internal bus. The guide gave us the earphone as she speaks very softly. She led us to view the caves and explained in Mandarin. We didn't buy the tickets having English speaking guide. The site is large, looks nice, well organized for tourists, has newly built buildings to protect the remaining caves inside so it looks not authentic enough to me. The statues and artworks look so nice. The trip ended in about 2 hours.

Entrance ticket 238 Yuan includes 2 times viewing the movies about history of Mogao Grottoes, a guide in Mandarin (for a guide in other languages, ticket is 258 Yuan) and bus inside the site. The guide speaks very softly so you need to wear the ear speaker at no extra charge. She leads her group to several rooms and explains about each place. This takes about one hour. The artworks are amazing but most of the outside areas are built to pro
