St.Wolfgangis a lakeside town in the Salzkammergut region of Austria, located east of Salzburg and situated on the northern shore of Wolfgangsee Lake at the foot of the Schafberg. Legend has it that in the 10th century, Bishop Wolfgang lived here as a hermit, threw his axe onto the hillside, and built the town's first church on the spot where it landed. He was later canonized by the church, and the town was named after him. For centuries since, it has been a renowned pilgrimage destination, and today it is a favorite vacation spot for Austrians due to its lake and mountain scenery, while also serving as a ski destination in winter.St. Wolfgang · 185m from downtown

Schafbergspitzeis located on the border of Salzburg State and Upper Austria, part of the Salzkammergut Mountains, with an elevation of 1,783m. It is surrounded on three sides by Wolfgangsee Lake, Mondsee, and Attersee, and is one of the landmarks of the Salzkammergut lake region. Its silhouette is highly recognizable: the southern slope rises evenly from the lakeshore, while the northern side features nearly vertical rock faces, making it look like a natural viewing platform from a distance. You can hike up the mountain or take the cog railway. The famous Schafbergspitze steam cog railway departs from the town of St. Wolfgang at the foot of the mountain. Its red carriages climb along the cog track, making it one of the few remaining cog railways in Austria. The scene in the film *The Sound of Music* where the family rides the train up the mountain was filmed here. Hiking up the mountain requires overcoming an elevation gain of over 1,000m, and there are clearly marked trails along the way. Many hikers choose to walk one way and take the cog railway down, saving energy without missing the scenery.Sankt Gilgen · 4.2 km from St. Wolfgang

Lake Hallstatt is located in the Salzkammergut region of Austria and is an Alpine lake carved by glaciers. It has a long, narrow surface and towering cliffs on both banks, resembling a fjord. The lake reaches a depth of 125m and has clear water; it is named after the town of Hallstatt on its shore. When the water is calm, the surface reflects the peaks of the Dachstein Mountains like a mirror. It is often shrouded in mist in the early morning, and the mountain forests are colorful in the fall. A traditional wooden flat-bottomed boat called a "Fuhr" is still preserved on the lake. It has been used to transport salt and goods on the lake since the 13th century, and this boating skill has now been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage. Every year on Corpus Christi, local residents hold a traditional procession on the lake. People decorate the flat-bottomed boats with flowers and set up altars on them. The bishop, choir, and people dressed in traditional costumes travel by boat on the lake to perform rituals, a unique folk custom that has continued for hundreds of years. In addition, the clear water of the lake also attracts diving enthusiasts. Sunken ancient trees and the wreckage of old salt transport ships are preserved underwater, and there is even an underwater altar. Tourists can take sightseeing cruises around the lake, and looking back at the town of Hallstatt from the lake is a classic postcard view. There are walking trails and bicycle paths on the east bank, suitable for hiking or cycling to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery.Hallstatt · 24.2 km from St. Wolfgang

Mirabell Palace & Garden

Mirabell Palace & Garden is located on the north bank of the Salzach River in Salzburg. Built in 1606 by Archbishop Dietrich for his lover Salome and their children, the palace was later renamed "Mirabell" by his successor. Today, it serves as the office of Salzburg's municipal authorities. The iconic scene from the movie The Sound of Music, where Maria and the children sing "Do-Re-Mi," was filmed by the garden's steps and fountain. The palace suffered a fire in 1818, with the marble staircase leading to the garden and the marble hall being among the surviving parts. The staircase is adorned with cherubs sculpted by Baroque artist Donner, each holding clouds in playful and endearing poses. The marble hall once echoed with the piano melodies of the young Mozart and is now a popular wedding venue, also frequently used for concerts and other events. The garden features a typical Baroque layout: statues of Greek and Roman mythological figures flank the entrance, while the central Pegasus fountain is surrounded by sculptures symbolizing the four elements. The green hedge theater at the rear, enclosed by neatly trimmed hedges, dates back to the early 18th century. The dwarf garden boasts a group of whimsically exaggerated stone gnomes, said to be modeled after real court figures. Unicorn sculptures scattered throughout add a fairy-tale charm to the solemn Baroque scenery. Climb the steps to the rose hill for a view of Salzburg Fortress on the opposite riverbank. The garden is adorned mainly with flower beds, hedges, and roses, making it especially delightful to visit during warmer seasons.Salzburg · 31.1 km from St. Wolfgang

Salzburg Castle is located on the Monk Hill in the old town of Salzburg and is the landmark building of the city. This white castle fortress has a very long history. It was built in 1077 and was gradually expanded by successive archbishops. There are museums and cafes in the castle, and it is also a good place to overlook the scenery of the whole city. When you enter the Salzburg Fortress, the first thing that catches your eye is the inner courtyard of the castle. The surrounding walls of the inner courtyard form a natural viewing platform. Before entering the castle, you may stop here for a while and overlook the scenery of the small town below the mountain. Audio guides (including Chinese) can be rented at the ticket office at the entrance. Because most of the exhibitions in the fortress are marked in German, it is recommended to rent one for sightseeing. The inner courtyard of the castle leads to the golden hall of the bishop. It is made of 4 huge marble columns and decorated very ornately. It used to be the place where the archbishop held major religious ceremonies. Going up the stairs, we came to the monarch's bedroom at that time. These resplendent bedrooms are as restored as possible to the furnishings of the year. The locks of all the cabinets are made of gold-plated, shining like the stars in the night sky. In addition, the fortress grain storehouse located underground can store food for a thousand soldiers for one year. If you are interested in the military, you can also visit the military museum in the castle, where various weapons and armors from the medieval period are displayed. The Torture Instrument Museum displays various torture instruments used to interrogate prisoners and prisoners. In addition, there are various small museums showing medieval life forms such as the Witch Doctor Exhibition Hall for viewing. The Muppets Museum The Muppets Museum is one of the highlights of the Salzburg Fortress. This museum is located in the basement and displays the marionettes used in the puppet theater, including the one that appeared in The Magic Flute. Papageno figures and figures from Amadeus. Here, you can not only see many lifelike puppets, but also have the opportunity to operate the actual puppets. Lake St. Wolfgang is located in the lake area of Salzkammergut, Austria. There are many lakes in the lake area. The most famous one is undoubtedly Hallstatt, and Lake St. Wolfgang is also one of the best. The emerald green lake water, the Schafberg beside the lake, the town of St. Wolfgang and the famous White Horse Hotel are all the highlights of Lake St. Wolfgang. You can swim and row in the lake. In addition, there are far fewer tourists than in Hallstatt. It feels very comfortable to vacation by the lake.

The Schafberg Mountain Train is also one of the attractions in the town of St. Wolfgang~ Take the train to the top of the mountain and you can enjoy the beauty of the entire lake. This is a line that has been in operation since 1893~ The nearest parking lot is P7, which is very convenient~ There is also a place for pets to drink water at the landing of the train. For Europe, pets can take trains and cruises, which is really humane~ There are many guides on where to take the train. I think the scenery on both sides is very good~

I had an amazing experience visiting Hallstatt, and it felt like stepping into a real-life postcard. The village is incredibly beautiful, with calm lake views, traditional wooden houses, and mountains surrounding the area. One unforgettable moment was standing by the lake early in the morning when the water was completely still and reflected the entire village like a mirror. I also enjoyed walking through the small streets, taking photos at every corner because the scenery was just so stunning. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, very different from busy cities. Overall, Hallstatt is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited and definitely worth the trip for its breathtaking views and quiet charm.

Mirabell Palace and Garden is one of the most beautiful attractions in Salzburg. The palace is elegant and full of charm, with lovely architecture and a rich history that reflects the city’s cultural heritage. I enjoyed walking through the gardens, especially the colorful flower beds, neatly trimmed hedges, and graceful fountains. The famous marble statues and the view toward the fortress made the visit even more memorable. The palace itself was also impressive, with its refined rooms and peaceful atmosphere. Overall, Mirabell Palace and Garden offers a wonderful mix of beauty, history, and relaxation. It is a must-visit for anyone exploring Salzburg, and I would gladly visit again.

Before entering Ha Town, we went to Gosau first. In addition to Gosau Town, Gosau Lake is also a very good place. Hiking around the lake is very beautiful with few people. The lake is very calm. Although there are no swans, you can see the snow-capped mountains in the distance.
