Lower your expectations. Before we went, I personally read hundreds of wonderful reviews which really sold this place to be heaven on earth! Unfortunately, we were severely disappointed, and lots of strange events unfolded. Firstly, we arrived at around 9:30pm after a long day of travelling we just wanted to check into our rooms and shower, however we were very hastily ushered up to the dining area to eat (i will comment on the food later..). We could not hear anything the reception personnel had said at check in and were told to come back the next morning for a proper run down, we did and the receptionist did not speak a word of english, so we kind of figured it all out ourselves. The hotel advertises a lot of facilities, turkish baths, massage halls, different restaurants, theme park/aqua land, museums and other various activities around the hotel. However we found these to be either unavailable or extremely inaccessible. The next morning we returned to reception with some pressing questions about all the things we had previously been offered upon booking. We asked to book the Italian restaurant for my birthday the next evening and were told it was only available on Wednesday. We said okay and booked anyway, due to the difficulty in communication we went back later and confirmed that we had actually been booked into the Moroccan restaurant on our last night. We decided to keep the booking, but we really shouldn’t have. Believing the restaurants to be very popular as they seemed to be fully booked we looked forward to our last night at this Moroccan themed restaurant. Well, we arrived surrounded by other hotel guests and staff, and we were offered a limited choice of drinks (less choice than at the hotel) and then we were all immediately served a random assor**ent of food. There were no menus, no information on what the food was and when waiting staff were asked even they weren’t too sure. The food was awful. The main was such a dry piece of lamb (?) that it caused me to have severe toothache through the night and next day as i had attempted to eat it. It honestly seemed like a bizzare social experiment as everyone looked at each other totally confused and disgusted by the food served. Anyway, after the second course we decided to get up and leave the restaurant (quite a few guests followed afterwards) and try our luck at the hotel buffet itself despite knowing how disappointing it was anyway. The hotel food… there was a good variety I would say, although a lot of the food was the same through lunch and dinner each day. After the first night and having extremely upset stomachs after anytime we ate at the hotel (despite breakfast) we decided to avoid eating meat from the buffet as it was almost always completely pink and uncooked inside. We did end up eating out at different restaurants within the Medina for three nights of our holiday and the food was actually delicious and enjoyable! Would definitely recommend the Italian in the square and
