Patten Arms Hotel

I have lived in Warrington for a long time, and thought I’d see what The Patten Arms is like inside. From the outside it has always looked tired, which is a shame. I realise renovation costs a lot, however, this is a gateway to the large town, opposite the station. I can’t help but think that a substantial update would guarantee an increase in bookings. Make Warrington proud of you and spend a little - or seek an investment partner, who I’m sure would see the potential….

Got to remember this isn't a five star Hilton or the like. Needed a stay over after an issue with rail travel. Hotel is a two minute walk from the railway station. Reception on arrival was friendly. They had a room which was inexpensive at £57 for one night B&B. Room was basic but clean. Tea and coffee making facilities. They don't do evening meals but it's a short walk into town to find a choice of places. Only gripe, no hot water for a shower - evening or morning. Don't judge against five star hotels, you get what you pay for.

We booked this hotel after ringing around every accomodation for neighbourhood weekender festival as were struggling. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful , could not fault the service we received from the moment we checked in to the moment we left . I have a feeling this hotel is family run as there is a foreign gentlemen and lady who I am assuming is his partner (sorry if I am wrong) who were both absolutely lovely and managed to fit us in to a twin room as a lot of the places were booked up and charging over extortionate prices In total we paid £94 per night for two nights when others wanted almost £300 a night due to the dates , so Thankyou pattern arms for not charging above and beyond . The hotel itself is opposite the train station so close to transport routes . Building on the outside is lovely it has a old feel to it , I would advise BEWARE of the advertisement of free car parking , we found that although there is a car park it is tiny for the amount of rooms the hotel actually has , can fit 4/5 cars on there max comfortably , tor a hotel with 40+ rooms and staff having to park its basically a non option and you will probably have to find alternative . There is a pay and display adjacent to the hotel that costs £12 for 24hrs in the week and £3 for 24hr on weekends , you have to pay by phone though as there’s no ticket machine . The rooms themselves are quite dated and basic , wallpaper was peeling in places on the ceiling , there was a dead wasp underneath the chair , the chair had a massive rip in the fabric . There didn’t seem to be a light switch above the mirror so no way to turn it on . The bathroom floor was questionable it was green but not laminate/tiled can’t really describe the material of it , was very bizarre and not the cleanest looking if I’m being totally honest . The side table looked like it had tea stains on it and the phone in the room looked a bit yellowy like it had been there for a long time . There was no plug socket by the bed itself so unable to charge phone while in bed which if you’re like me I like to sometimes browse my phone in bed . The bath was green ! Clean but very odd as the sink and toilet were white , maybe they are in the process of refurbishing it ?? We were on the top floor so the layout of the room was that one of the beds and where the toilet was is quite low ceiling so my partner had to be careful not to hit his head , not a problem and we were not bothered but just something to keep in mind if you are particularly tall . The beds themselves were 3/4 which was absolutely brilliant and were quite comfy , lots of bedding fresh towels and pillows provided , there is a kettle which amenities and biscuits , would be good if there was some cups and possibly some bottled water too would be a bonus . It can be quite noisy outside if you open the window but we didn’t have no problem sleeping The breakfast was terrible I’m not going to lie to you but can’t really moan as it is provide

Second time round coming here, much better sleep, room and friendly service compared to last time. Everyone working here was lovely to me and my son and incredibly helpful, the room we had (a twin) was much better, cleaner, and wasn’t sweltering during the night! A great place to stay to get head down after the Rugby. Breakfast is pretty decent too and included in the price.

Liked · breakfast was excellent with lots of choices from classic english breakfast to cereal. Great quality ingredients and excellent service Room was basic but really good considering the price value. Location was close to town and lots of transport options. Originally booked one night only, but ended up staying another 2 nights because of my positive experience. Management were great and staff (especially Naomi) were kid and welcoming. On the first night, i was very late arriving at the hotel because of travel delays and although the reception was closing at 9pm, i received a call from Naomi with instructions on how to get my keys outside and access to the building entrance after 9pm. That was fantastic. However, i arrived at 8:50pm and Naomi mentioned that she would keep the bar (pub that is inside the hotel) open so i could have a drink and snack after my ordeal. That was very kind and she was very friendly and made my first night back in the UK a pleasant one. Would recommend the Patten Arms to anyone looking for friendly service, while balancing cost and convenience to the town. Would stay there again. Thank you.

I’m not going to claim this hotel is perfect or the best I’ve been too as I’m aware it is quite tired and old fashioned. It however it serve its purpose as I had a comfortable nights sleep and was able to get a shower etc albeit warm and not roasting hot. The hotel is probably 2 star perhaps pushing a 3 however what sets this hotel apart is the staff, you wouldn’t get better in a 5 star hotel. What an absolutely amazing bunch of people. Nothing is too much trouble and they literally bend over backwards to help you. Breakfast was delicious and I would absolutely return. Thank you for a lovely stay

The beds are horrible to sleep and the staff claim that there is no homeless people living there lying to his paying guest he speaks to all the homeless and some of the paid stuff like absolute haven’t really done anything he still comes out calling me slurs c the hot water barley works and seen as homeless can’t do any washing of there clothes the only person that I thinks is amazing worker is Nioami The me sharmu or how ever you spell it will make you want to please take my advice an never go here you will absolutely hate it no value for money and the building is dead old and creeky and he called mw a slur to do with autism
