보모 아일랜드 리조트(Vomo Island Resort)

Firstly, I really rarely write reviews, but I really felt I needed to share my experience at Vomo this last trip. Our family have been to various Fiji resorts well over a dozen times and other places before that. This is our third Vomo holiday. I will start with the negatives so I can finish on a positive. Negative Once you stay at Vomo, you will not want to leave or holiday anywhere else! No matter how long I stay, unlike everywhere else I have stayed, I do not want to leave. Now the positives. The location is amazing, if you are wondering if staying in Denarua Is the same as the islands, it’s not anywhere near the climate, beaches, and the islands just have that relaxed vibe. Vomo being the best we have ever stayed at. Accomodation is private, air conditioned and very well Appointed, we had the two bedroom suite with our own pool etc. incredible. The food is very good also with an every day changing menu and the staff are so accomodating you would never be left with nothing to eat. The beaches on Vomo are surrounded by turquoise water, white sands and amazing snorkelling reefs where you will see more tropical fish than you can imagine, right off the beach. The guys at ocean play can take you fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving or boating to loads of amazing place. If you have ever been to Fiji you will have experienced “Fiji time”. It basically means very slow and unenthusiastic service from staff using the excuse for drink orders taking 45 minutes, “we are on Fiji time”. This does not exist on Vomo. The staff are amazing. They remember us and our kids even when it had been two years between trips. They bring you drinks without you needing to chase them down because they take an interest in you when you’re staying with them They are always super friendly and warm and can’t do enough to help you have a great holiday. Very genuine people that we miss when we leave every time. It was during our first stay here that we noticed this incredible “difference” to other places. We had only really experienced this level of deep caring service one other place in the world. That was in the Saphire resort in Tasmania. Very soon after realising that, we became aware that the manager at saphire when we were there was now the manager at Vomo. Justin King just creates the most amazing customer experience in two places now he had been in charge. The similarities in the incredible “feel” Vomo and Saphire brought to us are hallmarks of what Justin King brings to the table as a property manager. You’re not going to arrive at Vomo and see flash and bling, it’s very nice but not in that way. But give it a day or two and you will “get it”. It seems to have the magic ability to remove all your stress, concerns, worries and you just can’t seem to find them in your thoughts. I have thought for quite a while about whether to review VOMO online or not but I've decided that I would want to have read this before booking. There's a huge amount to like about VOMO but as our trip was supposed to be the jewel of our month-long trip of a lifetime in Fiji (VOMO was the most expensive place we stayed by nearly twice the amount of anywhere else), there were too many problems to ignore, even when you're so keen to have a great time. We stayed from 17th to 24th January which was just after the peak Christmas season. There was a stay 7 pay for 5 deal on which meant that occupancy was very high. Unfortunately staffing and management couldn't cope. The main restaurant was, I'm afraid to say, a shambles. Some meals took in excess of 2 hours with the output from the kitchen completely haphazard. One meal we were seated first and served last. Drinks from the bar took ages (if they came at all before re-ordering). Service generally was far below expectations, even though each staff member was visibly trying hard and was charming. The inclusive minibar was only restocked once or twice, and only after multiple requests. The resort wouldn't offer the shuttle to the ?south beach during our entire stay, saying the road was too wet. The kind of small touches that you would expect for this level of resort were missing. The main issue behind the scene was under-staffing. The head chef went on leave on the day we arrived and their replacement did not hit the ground running. There was an obvious lack of supervising / managing staff, even though the GM was himself (I think) working front of house and in the kitchen. This continued for 5 out of our 7 nights when the first people on the 'stay 7, pay 5' deal went home (the deal started two days before we arrived). With occupancy back under control, everything improved significantly. Staff (who I want to emphasise again, were lovely individuals) had more time to do what they clearly do best - interact with the guests. If our first five days had been like our last two days, I expect this would be a 5* review. It was a pretty clear-cut case of accepting too many guests and failing to staff appropriately. The reality of that is the resort should have offered refunds of significant sums to all the guests in that period, but it didn't. The underperformance was obvious to guests and would have been clear to the management (those who were present were working very hard but could not do the job of all those missing). The last criticism is of the family pool which is far too small, even when occupancy is not packed. Of course, the beaches and the sea are gorgeous, so this won't be a problem for some people. It was unsatisfactory for us because we were a family of three (parents with a 10 month old baby) and we weren't ready to use the Baby Butler service. This meant we couldn't use the Rocks area (which looks great). The family area is less impressive in every respect compared

The most magical staff and island to visit. At times the adult only areas were so quiet it felt like we had the place to ourselves which was incredible. Semi at the Rocks bar was not only so accomodating he made the best drinks and was always willing to answer our questions and just felt like Ive made a friend for life! You will be blessed to meet Semi. Tim and Zach greeted us on the island and they are the warmest gentle people I have ever met. The snorkelling was incredible the food was absolutely insane and I am a big foodie, the menu changed every day such great quality and service. The rooms were so spacious and I can't wait to come back! Thank you Vomo for the best memories.

Really excellent place for families with younger kids. Kids club takes great care of the kids, allowing parents to enjoy the stay at whatever pace they chose. The entire staff is the friendliest you meet anyplace, often a cliche but here it's a real tangible asset. Food is varied and great in quality. Recommended: Complimentary snorkeling tour is excellent and we liked a picnic on little Vomo, an uninhabited neighbor island. Spa was good as well. The beach quality compared to other great resorts is good but not excellent, too many rocks, even though the water is clear. Interestingly, the beach quality on the other side of the the resort, called Mamanuka Beach, is better. Although it's only a 10 min walk from the villas, it is always empty and with no facilities other than a few sunbeds. There are a couple of signs on the way to Rocks restaurant. Worth a visit. Beach villas are good quality.

It’s hard to explain how wonderful this place is. It is so unique and the staff is so wonderful that I wish it weren’t so far away, being from the States. We’ve never vacationed anywhere like it. From the accommodation to the food and the service, everything is just so magical. We had the best time and would love to come back someday. The other glowing reviews are legit, it really is that good.

Luxury accommodation, exceptional dining, and the most genuine, caring and fun environment for the whole family that we have ever experienced. I’ve never seen my teenager so willingly leave his phone for a whole day and disconnect from social media! All made possible not only by the beauty of the island but the beauty of its staff. Natural and genuine care and kindness in every interaction and so much joy and happiness. The food is beyond compare - both varied and delicious at every meal. We especially need to call out the Ocean Play and activities team for how much fun they made the holiday for both our boys - from learning about turtle conservation to beach volleyball each afternoon that turned into quite the competition! Lai the marine biologist was so patient with our youngest who was full of questions - and I can’t even name all of the awesome guys that kept the teenagers laughing and playing all day! There is such an array of bespoke and curated experiences to enjoy, although the simple pleasure of waking in the morning and walking straight into crystal blue waters to snorkel amongst vibrant reef and fish is still a highlight. Much of the team at Vomo have been there for many years - which speaks volumes of why the staff seem so happy and genuinely enjoying their jobs… something that translates into their investment in making every stay a special one. We have already booked to return, which will be our third visit of no doubt many more. A place to unwind, to disconnect from things that bring stress into your life and to reconnect as a family. It is simply an unmatched experience.

A paradise away from the hustle and bustle where the food is magnificent, the views spectacular and the snorkelling invigorating. The staff and crew are welcoming friendly and charming. The Fijian culture is still alive and well on Vomo and we look forward to returning. Thank you to all the team who made our stay so memorable. ❤️

Vomo Island Hotel stands as a benchmark for all hotels in this category for its service, quality of water activities, excursions and food. Thank you to the hotel and all the wonderful hospitality. We celebrated my birthday at Vomo Island Resort. Such a special place. Our stay was perfect, from the moment we arrived at Nadi Airport, wonderful transfer by car and boat out to the island. So easy, we landed at 10am and was on the island by lunch time. Beautiful staff, so helpful and kind. Wonderful beachfront villa, nice and large and very comfortable, only a 10 second walk to the beautiful beach for amazing snorkelling straight off the beach, even saw turtles. The food was amazing at both restaurants. With my dietary requirement, I was given my own printed special menu every night with my name, so special. We can't wait until we come back to Vomo in the future for another wonderful holiday.
