호텔 라 로칸다(Hotel la Locanda)

Beautifully run hotel in the heart of Volterra. Bathroom was large with a jetted tub/shower combination. It was not easy getting into the tub as it was deep but the jetted tub felt good after a long day of walking around the city. Breakfast was delightful and plentiful. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the street and was bright. Closet space was great and room was clean and well maintained.

Cute little hotel on the "main drag" but just far enough out that the evenings were quiet. The hotel has a small elevator that can accommodate 3 people, 3 suitcases, and 3 small personal-sized bags. More than that, and it won't move :-) The hotel is, like almost all hotels in Italy, in an older building, and it took some creative remodeling to engineer all the rooms. Our room was just off the stairwell -- and one could even say it was "in" the stairwell, since you had to exit to the stairwell to access the door to our room. Once in the room, the beds were definitely comfy, there were adequate electrical outlets, and plenty of spots to place our suitcases. Since we were traveling with a Rick Steves tour group, we were only there 2 nights, so... no time to unpack and then it was important that we could access our suitcases. Volterra is a lovely little town and the Hotel La Locanda is perfectly situated for setting out to explore. I would definitely stay here again if we were to return to Volterra. With a car, it would be a great location to set out to explore the surrounding countryside.

Due to a flight cancellation we were unable to stay at the La Locanda Hotel on the date we had booked. Although we could no longer cancel our reservation without charge, the hotel generously refunded us the full amount of the scheduled night. This shows the excellent and generous service of the staff at La Locanda!

We accessed our room from the 2nd floor stairwell landing. Our room was located on a Main Street, facing a building, and was noisy almost all the time. We had to keep our window open because the room was too warm for us. We parked outside the wall and walked with out suitcases to the hotel.

Terrible service. The side-bread was eaten (for which you pay coperto), the staff was unfriendly. The prices are way to high for this bad service and people that do not meet the needs of their clients. Part of our dish was spilled on the table by our waitress, and we didnt get a replacement for what was spilled. When we asked about the half eaten bread and the fact that part of our dish was spilled we got basically laughed at by 3 people of the staff in our faces, and were told “nobody eats that”. (We wouldve liked to eat it, however, and it’s still partly paid by us. Awful experience, DO NOT GO HERE.

Très bonne localisation pour visiter la ville, parking payant à 20 mètres. Accueil et personnel sympathique . Literie confortable. Bon petit déjeuner. Seul bémol mauvaise insonorisation entre les chambres, j’ai entendu ronfler le voisin toute la nuit…

Hotel situato in centro storico e comodo per raggiungere i principali monumenti della città. Purtroppo, durante il nostro soggiorno abbiamo avuto un problema con la camera dovuto al mal funzionamento di una pompa dell’acqua, adiacente alla nostra stanza, che non ci ha permesso di riposare. Non è stato possibile cambiare camera causa hotel al completo, ma la direttrice, scusandosi per il disagio, la mattina seguente ci ha offerto il soggiorno con molta professionalità. Speriamo possano risolvere al più presto questo problema.

Siamo appena rientrati da una vacanza alla scoperta della Toscana, abbiamo deciso di fare base a Volterra spostandoci in auto ogni giorno verso città d'arte e piccoli borghi. La nostra scelta è ricaduta sull'hotel la locanda per la posizione nel centro storico in modo da poter avere tutto a portata di mano a fine giornata. Mai scelta è stata migliore, la buona riuscita della nostra vacanza è da imputare in gran parte alla struttura ma soprattutto allo staff composto da tutte donne professionali, cordiali, disponibili, sempre sorridenti ed attente alla cura del cliente. La struttura è molto carina, ben tenuta, le camere sono confortevoli, funzionali e pulite. La colazione è a buffet, ricca, buona, varia e sempre riassortita per poter essere a disposizione di tutti i clienti. Il giorno del mio compleanno con grande stupore ho trovato in camera un vassoio con due flut ed una bottiglia di prosecco il fresco nel frigobar, corredati da un biglietto di auguri, gesto per me inaspettato e molto gradito. Se dovessimo ritornare a Volterra sicuramente l'hotel la Locanda sarebbe nuovamente la nostra scelta. Complimenti e grazie di tutto.
