We loved Hotel Il Saraceno!! This beautiful and peaceful hotel in Volastra, high above Manarola is easily accessible by shuttle bus that runs almost continuously. We loved everything—the decor, the quiet, the cleanliness, the breakfast, the patio—but our favorite was Antonella, the proprietor. She is amazing! Her warmth, efficiency and charm are endearing! Plus, she speaks perfect English!

Great Hotel! Antoinella was a perfect host. She gave us all the information we needed to get the bus down to the nearest of the 5 villages - Manorola - and to get the most out of our stay. Hotel was clean and comfortable with easy onsite parking. The bus stop was across the road and buses left regularly all day and evening. It was nice to have a place to retreat to away from the hustle and bustle of Cinque Terre. The room was clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. We had a wonderful meal in a local restaurant near the hotel in Volastra - Locunda Tiabuscion

Tutto nuovo. Molto pulito e molto cordiali. La signora che ci ha accolto è stata molto gentile e attenta alle nostre esigenze. Colazione top. Eravamo in moto, abbiamo parcheggiato nel garage coperto. Ottima posizione, anche considerando il prezzo.

Hôtel bien situé avec un minibus qui vous transporte toutes les heures entre volastra et Manarola. La responsable de l’hôtel est très accueillante et très disponible et parle un excellent français. Petit dej très bien sans gâchis du fait d’un choix préalable d’Ève que l’on souhaite du buffet proposé. Et Antonella très très sympathique et très serviable et de bon conseil,

Antonella was a wonderful host during our two-night stay. She provided a delicious, made to order breakfast on both mornings and gave us very helpful tips re how to save money during our visit by purchasing the Cinque Terre Pass. Although it may seem that this property is a bit far from the five towns, the bus to Manarola stops just across the street. Buses come frequently and arrive in Manarola within minutes. The property is also close to the hiking trails and a great respite from the crowded streets of Manarola and Riomaggiore. There is also a wonderful restaurant right in Volastra -Locanda Tiabuscion. We had two meals there and both were delicious and very reasonably priced.

The property is cozy away from all the crowds of 5 terre! Just want to highlight that the property is not technically on the 5 villages. It’s in a nice small village a bus ride away from the train station. The buses are usually every 45 minutes. If you want to stay away from all the crowds then it’s perfect otherwise the commute to the train station can be a pain. The property is owned and managed by a family and they are welcoming.

L'albergo è molto carino anche se semplice, pulitissimo e in ottima posizione per i bellissimi sentieri: l'unico problema è che d'inverno l'ultimo bus da Manarola parte nel tardo pomeriggio e per andare a cena bisogna usare l'auto, che di giorno abbiamo tenuto nel comodo garage interrato. La prima sera ci è sembrato che il cancello automatico, chiudendosi senza preavviso, avesse urtato l'auto; ma la luce era scarsa, l'auto infangata, la signora Antonella, all'epoca gentilissima e accogliente, ci ha rassicurati dicendoci di essere assicurata. Abbiamo passato due giorni molto piacevoli - la signora Antonella ci ha dato utili informazioni e ci ha aiutato a trovare ristoranti aperti quando sembrava che tutti fossero chiusi, ci siamo sentiti veramente a casa - e ci eravamo dimenticati del piccolo incidente, ma al momento della partenza, dopo aver pagato il soggiorno e parcheggiato l'auto davanti alla chiesetta del paese, alla luce del sole abbiamo visto il graffio sul parafango e siamo andati a segnalarlo per avviare le pratiche assicurative. A quel punto la disponibilissima signora Antonella ha cambiato completamente atteggiamento, smettendo di guardarci in faccia e negando che il danno potesse essere stato causato dal cancello. Solo quando mio marito ha insistito perché lo aprisse, le tracce di vernice rossa sull'anta l'hanno costretta ad ammettere che il danno non era una nostra bugia per spillarle chissà quanti quattrini. Ma invece di ammettere la nostra buona fede ci ha salutato con un "tanto non tornerete"... e dire che fino a mezz'ora prima stavamo programmando un ritorno in primavera, e pensavamo di suggerire il posto ad amici. Ma non è finita: alla mia pubblicazione, in altro sito, di una recensione in cui raccontavo quanto accaduto, ha risposto accusandoci di aver fatto rumore alle 7 di mattina (ora in cui ci alzavamo, ma se il rumore di una doccia e di una tranquilla preparazione di valigie disturba i clienti forse l'albergo necessita di migliore insonorizzazione; e nessuno ci ha detto niente in proposito) e soprattutto di aver scardinato l'anta della doccia, una bugia totalmente gratuita: l'anta alla nostra partenza era esattamente come quando siamo arrivati. In conclusione: la signora Antonella può sembrare la vostra migliore amica, ma fate attenzione a non fare valere i vostri diritti se qualcosa va storto.
