This would have to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I don’t know where the people with positive reviews stated but it was not in my room or in this hotel. We were with a group on a package and all of us were disgusted by the filth and lack of advertised facilities. As we stepped out of lift we saw the carpet was filthy. Onto our room and I will let the photos tell the story. It was old and worn, the linen was threadbare. The window would not close and our room could have been accessed from outside. We went out with our guide and realised we had left the window wide open so he rang reception and asked them to go to out room and close it. They said they would. On return several hours later it was still wide open. The blind was also broken and could not be rolled up. The service on the front desk was appalling. An older ***, maybe day ***ager was extremely rude and when I asked if there was anywhere to do laundry he just yelled up and pointed then turned away. There was never a hello, please or thank you or even a smile. He was training younger staff so there is little hope for improvement in customer service. Now to the bathroom, putrid. Minimal water from filthy shower head and the water stank. My daughter went to a friends to shower, I went without. The toilet seat was broken and the toilet horribly stained. See photos for state of door. Walking on the carpet gave us black feet. No fridge. A horrible experience which was a shame as we loved Varanasi . I don’t know if they save these rooms for tours but we cheered on leaving. The one saving grace was the dining room. Some language barriers but that’s fine we were in India but the food was delicious and the banquet on 2nd night was so good. As I said one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed and we will be complaining to our tour company
