I recently stayed at the Blue Horizon Hotel, for 11 days in late January 2024. I have stayed at the Blue Horizon, dozens of times since the late 1990’s principally for business. The west-central location is excellent for both business people and tourists as it is an easy walk to downtown, the convention center, Coal Harbor, the West End, as well as Stanley Park. It also is a short walk to two different SkyTrain stations, including the SkyTrain Canada Line which takes you directly to the airport. Nearby are good restaurants at all price levels, as well as a bank, a great local coffee place, a 24-hour bakery with food/coffee/tea, a drug store, a BC liqueur store, and a grocery store. Pretty much everything you need for an extended stay. The hotel setup is a bit unique. There are only 8 rooms per floor, and all rooms are corner rooms with lots of windows and a balcony. The bathrooms are small, but a remodel a few years back utilized the space they had very well and makes them feel more spacious than they are. The rooms include a good size closet, a small safe, a small refrigerator, coffee maker and a hot water pot for tea. One reason I keep coming back is the staff. They are great and straightforward to deal with. As an example, this last visit I had an issue with the heating system after I returned to my room after 9 pm. I contacted the front desk and 5 minutes later the night maintenance manager was at my room door. He addressed the problem and had it fixed within a few minutes. I will keep coming back when I need a place in Vancouver.
