Hotel Simple

Comfort not up to expectations; cold room, even with heater to the maximum, stained bathrobes (bleached), a coffee stand but no glasses nor water (for which we had to pay extra!), dirty windows.

We had a nice stay in the hotel's suite on the top floor. The hotel is very conveniently located next to the cathedral and you are close to all kinds of nice bars and restaurants. A wine and snack at Ruby Rose, which is down the street from the hotel, is highly recommended. The room was fine and clean but in need of an overhaul here and there. The mattress is really in need of replacement, in the middle a deep pit where you both roll towards, because of this I did not really sleep well and woke up with pain in my back. I reported this to the reception but didn't really get the idea that anything was being done about it.

Looking for a boutique hotel in the center of Utrecht, I was advised to check out Hotel Simple. Booked one night on the top floor, not cheap, but you definitely get a lot of Value for your money. The room was (almost) perfect, breathtaking views of the Dom tower and the nearby church from my private terrace. It was a shame the November temperatures were quite chilly, so I guess I must come back when the sun shines in Utrecht and enjoy a drink overlooking one of Utrecht’s cultural highlights. The room had a luxurious bed which guaranteed a good night sleep, great bath which was relaxing after day of downtown Utrecht. Small improvement suggestions, please install a mirror close to the water including a lamp, so a man can have good shave. Also, the internet speed was way below I would expect to have in a Dutch hotel of this level, although I do have to admit that my room was on the 3rd floor in the reception area it was good. In the end I haven’t been able to dine in the restaurant, which was my biggest mistake as it is one of the best in restaurants in town. One more reason to come back. All in all a wonderful experience, a must do when you’re in Utrecht and in for a treat.

Great food, great restaurant reception on Friday. And even better on Saturday, a delicious meal, ample breakfast. Much less the hotel; bad beds, dusty, shower not very clean toilet without light in the evening no hot water. A lot of noise from the machines on the roof, despite the executive suite being there, it needs some refurbishment. On balance we like to come back to eat not to sleep. Thanks for the birthday balloons.

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, die Zimmer außergewöhnlich (Achtung:halboffene Badezimmer). Wer einen besonderen Aufenthalt möchte, ist hier gut aufgehoben. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und lecker. Leider waren die Teller nicht sauber und mussten ausgetauscht werden. Das angeschlissene Café ist sehr gut besucht, was leider auch zu langen Wartezeiten führt.

Ho soggiornato tre notti in una delle due suite di questo hotel boutique e mi sono trovata molto bene. La camera molto spaziosa, il letto grande e comodissimo. Bello anche il terrazzino con visuale sulla cattedrale. Unica pecca il lavandino distaccato dalla parte wc, piccolo e senza uno specchio adiacente. Non era compresa la colazione ma a pochi passi è pieno di locali, bar, ristoranti. Ci tornerei sicuramente!
