The info received post booking indicated engineering works would be completed by Oct 15th - before we got there. To our utter dismay, they were clearly ongoing both internally and externally upon our arrival - nothing about this reality had been communicated. Had we known, we would have switched hotel! No alarm clock was needed, each day we were woken up at 7am by the jarring and shock inducing noise of tools and heavy masonry launched into a skip. Apparently our room could not be changed. The room itself was ok (no lock on toilet though?) but overly warm, the phone did not work and the wifi was poor. The wifi issue was flagged with reception but there was no fix. Unexpectedly, one morning all doors in the reception area were locked and no receptionist was present - worryingly we thought we were trapped when trying to promptly leave at 07:15 for an expensive non-refundable day tour with strict timings. Luckily we figured out another - convoluted - way to the outside world. After returning late from this trip I wanted to take a shower around 11pm but to my surprise there was no hot water. The whole thing was VERY rough around the edges and no great effort was made by the hotel to make up for any shortcomings. What should have been a restful time turned out to be stressful - this wasn’t really a holiday. Whilst in this state I would not recommend it to ANYONE looking for a relaxing time.
