The location is great: We like staying in 29 Palms when we visit Joshua Tree. The property is close to a good grocery store and the employees I interacted with were pleasant. My kids liked the breakfast provided. In the room, the beds were clean, which is all that struck me at first. But here's where things get a lot worse: the floors were filthy. Like, walk around the room twice and the bottoms of your feet turned dark gray. Like, I had to wash the kids' feet before they could get into bed and lay socks at their bedside if they needed to get up. The gathered debris along the wall of the bathroom and behind the beds was shocking (including some large and very visible beads along with the dust bunnies), as was the fact that there was literally a wad of chewing gum on the bathroom floor (that I stepped on before realizing it wasn't permanent - EW!). Also, the water heater is set dangerously high. This is actually a hazard, especially for children. I scalded myself twice and I wasn't being careless. It seems like the property could be better run and worth staying at, but we won't chance it next time.
