일라토아 로지(Ilatoa Lodge)

This was the beginning. Stay in stay of a Galapagos trip. The lodge is on top of a hill through horrible ruins in neighborhoods. It’s at least 45 minute drive from the airport. The driver is the owner of the lodge and will tell you it’s a 20 minute drive incorrect, lies, not true. Once you get in there, the doors are locked. The gates are locked and you’re stuck there. The owner will give you a menu, one menu, of a local restaurant he “works with”to order food from. You’re not allowed to get your receipt the owner takes care of it, and then charges you however he wants. Delivery fees may or may not be added, depending upon how he feels and he may say that the menu is last year prices after you get your bill handwritten bill from him., A scam. It’s very questionable procedures. If you order food, grab the delivery guy out front and pay your own bill. The food is so so with small portions and questionable quality. Pack your own. There are no set times for breakfast and or coffee. They will ask you, but then they will tell you and then debate the times so not normal procedures. They will tell you coffee and tea is available all day long and it is. But never in the morning! No one can make coffee in the morning. Plus you really don’t want your food in seven peoples hands prior to getting it very sketchy. no hot water., No air conditioning, several insects and windows open upon arrival in the room and in the bed. This place should be inspected by the government and Next tour groups that think about it. Never again. Only six rooms and they are new into the business and don’t have, any prior background on tourism. Good luck.

Ilatoa Lodge is a wonderful, peaceful place to stay, with breathtaking views of Quito and the valley. Marcello and Rosanna are incredible hosts providing a relaxed stay of the highest quality. They are attentive and thoughtful including packing us of with a delightful breakfast for our 5am flight! It is ideally placed for easy access to the airport (a mere 20 minutes away). We used it the night before early transfers and it worked really well. Would definitely be booking another stay when next in Quito

A warm and welcoming spot with an unbeatable view and convenient airport pickup. Great spot to spend a night in transit to or from the airport while feeling like you’re still on vacation. It felt a bit like staying at a friend’s house on your way out of town.

This is a quiet and natural hotel up a hill with beautiful views of the city. It is halfway between the airport and the city and the proprietor, Marcello, picked us up at the airport and brought us back for our flight. He is extremely welcoming and very helpful. There are hummingbirds in the bushes, friendly dogs in the yard, and a very homey comfortable vibe. Marcello ordered a delicious dinner for us and generally we felt very well taken care of. He speaks excellent English and is also a great source of information for your travels.

This lodge is absolute heaven! My family stayed here for our first night in Ecuador and we wished we could stay longer. The lodge and rooms are beautiful, with gorgeous wood and spacious rooms. We enjoyed the view of Quito at night especially well with all the twinkling lights, and the cute hummingbirds during the day. We are not social people, but the owner made us feel like family. He helped us order food since our Spanish isn't so great, and made sure my husband and son found the hiking trail they wanted to try near the property. My daughter and I enjoyed resting and reading in our rooms and on the balconies while we adjusted to the altitude in the most serene, relaxing location. An absolute gem! Oh, and the breakfast was amazing! And the wine we were able to purchase from the owner's wine cellar was fantastic and he probably should have charged us more.

A wonderful way to end an amazing trip to Ecuador! Ilatoa Lodge was cozy, beautifully appointed and furnished, with wonderful hosts, Rosanna and Marcello, their charming polite son, JoseMiguel, and their two delightful dogs, Millie and Luna! The place is ideally located: fairly close to the Airport, yet not too far from Quito city. The surrounding are beautiful, and the garden lovely, tended personally by Rosanna. The breakfast was very good and fresh. Though they do lunch and dinner only by prior arrangement, Marcello was good enough to whip up a ham and cheese grilled sandwich for me, as I had arrived, starving, after a flight from Baltra. They also managed a simple but delicious and filling dinner for me, as I did not wish to go out. After a month of travelling, the Lodge was like coming home to an oasis of calm comfort! My room was charming, clean and comfortable, the bed a pleasure to rest in, the bathroom clean and well appointed. The place has many charming touches which add character, like candles on the stairs, instead of lights, adding to the ambience! There’s a well stocked wine cellar, and I enjoyed a glass of wine with my dinner. An unexpected bonus were the hummingbirds in the garden, … The garden also has a play area for children. Highly recommended!

On our recent trip to Ecuador, we stayed here overnight 3 separate times as we flew in/out of Quito. The lodge is a great place to unwind and relax with great views of Quito but none of the noise and pollution. We would usually arrive around dinner and leave early the next morning. Typically, Marcelo would meet us at the airport and then take us back the next morning (even for a 330 am checkin!). Dinners could be ordered from a local restaurant, but the homecooked meal we had one night was a nice change. On the one day we arrived around noon, we had organized a cooking class: I can highly recommend the locro de papa soup we made for our lunch. Because of timing, our breakfasts were given to us in a paper bag so we could eat on the trip to the airport. We left luggage with them when we went to the Amazon, as well as laundry for them to do which was very much appreciated. When we were here, we did not feel like customers in a hotel. Instead, we were staying in the home of friends that we had just met. Thank you Marcelo and Rossana for the welcoming visit.

What a wonderful stay. This is a small family run property located in a Quito suburb. It’s about 20 minutes to the airport and 20 to Quito. It’s wonderfully appointed and comfortable. The grounds are lovely including a couple hammocks and two friendly dogs.  I stayed only a day - to catch an early flight - but wanted to stay more. The couple is wonderful. Marcelo picked me up at the airport for a reasonable fare. I took the rose plantation tour which was interesting and Rossana worked with me over meals and planning (i am vegan). (There is delivery from a nearby restaurant too). And the boxed breakfast saved me at the airport!
