탄 릿 게스트하우스(Thanh Lich Guesthouse)

I stayed at the Thanh Lich Guesthouse for one night in August 2023 when I visited Quang Ngai mainly to see the Son My Memorial. I chose the guesthouse based off of the many reviews praising the kindness and hospitality of the family that runs the guesthouse, and those reviews were absolutely correct. From the moment I arrived, I was treated like family, receiving a big hug from the father. As other reviews have mentioned, the couple doesn't speak English (their daughter can help in English if she's around), but they went out of their way to accommodate me and make me feel welcome, even repairing an air conditioner on the spot that wasn't working properly. Translation apps are more than enough to communicate together. With the father's help, I got a taxi to the Son My Memorial (310k round trip off the meter, not negotiated) as well as a taxi to the bus station when I checked out. If there's anything you need, the owners will definitely help you! Quang Ngai city itself doesn't really have too much to offer, so if you're just a visitor like me passing through for a day or so, it doesn't really make sense to stay in the heart of the city. The Thanh Lich Guesthouse is a little outside of the main city, just across the river, and if you're really only there to head to the Son My Memorial or further to the beach area, the guesthouse is right by the road leading there. It has great river views from the back rooms, and I liked the rustic feeling of the property. While the guesthouse is located on a normal, working-class street not really aimed at tourists, it has everything you'd need--a coffee shop across the street, a WinMart convenience store about 100 meters to the left, and plenty of rice, porridge, and pho restaurants up and down the block. I loved the local and "authentic" ambiance of the area. Anyways, I can't imagine I'd ever find myself in Quang Ngai again, but if I do, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this guesthouse again. Luckily, the father and I took some cool selfies together after I checked out, so I'll always have great memories of my short yet happy stay!

Fantastic guest house. Our room had a terrific view over the river flats towards the city. It was quiet, extremely clean, and the aircon and fan worked well. Good shower, drinking water in room, complimentary snacks. The owner is really great and helpful. Good coffee across the road! Highly recommend this place.
