Went for a week-long yoga and surf retreat and was blown away! The location and resort are absolutely stunning. The surf is perfect for beginners and life-long surfers alike. The food deserves to be in Bon Appetit. The spa is heavenly. Janel (owner) and all the staff were kind as can be. I recommend it unconditionally and hope I get to return sometime soon!

This place is gorgeous and amazing! The staff, the food, the scenery, all top notch. Highly recommend. Loved the salt water pool, the yoga space right on the beach, and the food was spectacular. Literally only complaint would be the housekeeping was a little slow to respond to small requests such as more towels or toilet paper. That's the only reason for 4 not 5 stars.

Sansara exceeded all of my expectations. I was here for a yoga retreat for a week. The rooms were stunning with lovely linens and the woodwork of the beds were a work of art. The food is delicious and there are many options. Staff were very sweet and very helpful. Cambuttal is hot, there are ample shady spots to relax. The AC is the rooms works incredibly well. Whatever you want to purchase in addition to what is included in your stay are reasonably priced. The only cons were that (1) the coffee is super weak whether you use the French press in your rooms, the coffee set out or what you can order at the bar. There is French press and kettle in your room, if you love a good coffee is worth packing your own grounds. (2) Theyoga mats really do smell horrible, it is worth packing your own or picking up a mat on Panama City before you head out. The shuttle service from Panama City to the resort is very comfy, awesome ac and come with bathroom stops. While the trip is a bit long you pass through such stunning areas on the shuttle that it’s enjoyable.

Simply book it! It is INCREDIBLE. Quick backstory... I was on a surf trip in Puerto Rico 4 weeks ago and decided to switch gears from heading to Colombia, and went to Panama instead. Last minute I googled “surf and yoga retreat Panama”, and on the first page found a retreat at Sansara, led by Luis from Doctor Passport Ventures. A quick look into both companies and the surrounding surf breaks and I was sold. Booked it that day. After 18 years of surf trips in many countries around the world, this was one of the BEST EVER. The food, the vibe, the flow of the place, the owner Janel's yoga classes, the staff, everything was nourishing and fun and welcoming. Retreats there can totally be “choose your own adventure”, with different adventure day trip options and a supportive staff that can help curate and guide your surf sessions to the nearby world class beach and point breaks. I hope this helps you make your decision, and as they say in catching waves, feel the flow and commit! The universe doesn't like hesitation ; )

This place is gorgeous, the land is breathtaking and the quality of the food is way beyond what I expected. But it is the staff that really takes this place to a different level for me. It’s incredible that this remote little sleepy town holds such a gem.

What an amazing place! Beautiful, serene, clean, eco-friendly, wonderful place to kick back and relax for a week. Went there on a yoga/surf retreat. Perfect! The staff is over the top friendly and accommodating, the accommodations are spacious and well appointed (and air conditioned -- whew!), the food is out of this world. They have thought of everything to make your stay seamless, lacking absolutely nothing. By the end of the trip everyone on the staff knew my name, my food preferences, my habits. They cater to your every desire. Location is right on the beach, and the pool is also an option. Don't hesitate -- a vacation destination of a lifetime!

Words aren't enough to describe simply how amazing this place is. Its a little slice of heaven with no detail overlooked. Our room was stunning, the grounds gorgeous and the food outstanding. But what made it so special was the staff. Each and every staff member was genuinely friendly, kind and helpful. Talking to many of them individually, I could tell that they love their job, their community and the owners of Sansara. Each staff member was eager to share their culture and insights about Cambutal and the surrounding areas. Many hung out at the resort outside of their work hours and I very much enjoyed getting to know them. We had a meal plan and there was SO MUCH to choose from. We were full the entire week, and even when events overlapped with the meal times, the staff made sure we had a meal prepared. Every dish was wonderful. The bartender Enrique has traveled the world doing bartending competitions and he does an amazing job of blending flavors and creating experiences with his drinks. Casa Zen was our home away from home and every last detail was beautiful. It was calm, peaceful and clean. I recommend trying the excursions you can book through the resort and Azuero Adventures. We did the waterfall hike with Brian and it was breathtaking. He is so knowledgable about the area passionate about sustainability. He can customize the hike (or longer excursions) to most accessibility types. We also did surfing lessons. The way they teach the lessons is so relevant to life and everyone who tried it was able to get up on the board! It was so fun! The experience at Sansara was like nothing I've ever had, and I've done other yoga retreats. Its small and has everything you need with nothing you don't need. We felt that they were an important part of the community and culture of Cambutal. The commi**ent of Sansara to the environment and the community are perfection. We will definitely be back.

I consider myself extremely well traveled and my visit to Sansara was a top 3 vacation for me. My vocabulary lacks the depth to describe how amazing this place is. From amazing yoga classes, to excellent day trips to learn how to surf and discover the beauty of remote Panama. But the food and service is what will make me return. For a place that is pretty remote, I still cannot understand how they can create such great meals and how they maintain such an incredible staff. It really was the trip of a lifetime. One incredible story to share; another family staying during our trip caught a 70 pound Grouper and the chef prepared it as a ceviche for dinner that night. Less than 6 hours out of the Pacific. So incredibly good! We will be back.
