Hotel Museo Cayara

We loved this hotel, so unusual. The staff were great and laid on a fabulous New Year’s Eve meal where we got to know the other guests. The museum was lovely to walk around as were the grounds. We also went on a couple of organised trips. We would really recommend this hotel.

Unique experience at Bolivia’s first hacienda- well maintained, friendly staff, special museum/chapel, beautiful landscape. Though somewhat isolated, it’s worth the journey. Roaring fireplace, large rooms and rural quiet provide a different (non urban) and historic perspective to your Bolivian experience.

This is a beautiful hotel located far from Potosí. The road to get to the hotel is very scenic. The hotel has an incredible collection of historical objects. It is very well kept. The rooms are small and rustic but there are electric blankets and space heaters for those cold nights. The food was excellent especially the breakfast with milk, cheese and nata made in the hacienda. Just remember that this hotel is Not in Potosí and it takes 45 min on a dirt road to get there

It took close to an hour to drive from Potosi to this hotel. It is far from the city on dirt roads. However, the historic nature of the hacienda and the collections here are incredible and interesting. The hotel has beautiful courtyards and we were greeted with a welcome drink. The main area where meals are served is heated by a lovely fireplace. There are two libraries with many old books. We were given a tour of the old bedrooms, the armory, and the chapel. All were fascinating. We also got to see the hydropower plant where electricity is generated. The rooms were pretty basic, but the beds had electric blankets. There were two space heaters in my room. There was also a wood stove, but in was told there was a danger of smoke in the room at night if it got windy. Unfortunately, the room and bathroom were very dimly lit. I had windows on each side of the room. It was very quiet at night. All the meals were very good and service was friendly and attentive. There are no amenities such as a fitness area or hot tub. The rooms are not large enough to do yoga. I was completely in awe of the historical collections of this hotel. However, there’s not much to do during your stay and you’re really far from Potosi.

A must see in Potosi region, beautiful place with amazing staff and mind blowing history and scenery…. Local produce is the icing on the cake with three exceptional meals a day!!! A treasure tucked away just out of Potosí

We spent here unfortunately only for two nights, but these nights were the best and most comfortable during our trip through Bolivia. The staff was so very friendly and helpful. The whole place with it's history is very interesting. It's a beutiful place to relaxe after a stressful sightseeing day in Potosi. We can highly recommend this place for visit and stay.

Excelente experiencia. Una parada necesaria en el correteo de turismo en Potosí. Una sorpresa conocer el museo. La gentileza del personal ayuda a completar nuestra experiencia en Cayara. Disfrutamos de productos lácteos frescos y de alta calidad. Una escapada muy recomendable.

Un lugar lleno de historia y arte! Aunque es lejos de la ciudad de Potosi, vale la pena hacer el viaje hasta este increíble lugar, además rodeado de naturaleza. El servicio del personal es extraordinario. El desayuna y cena super rico . Repetiría mi vista otra vez a este lugar encantador!

Потрясающий отель, расположенный в асьенде 16 века - первой в Боливии. Но высота 3.500, будьте осторожны. Кругом красивые места, горы, богатая растительность. Персонал очень обходительный, еда вкусная и здоровая, хотя и не слишком разнообразная. Очень советую салат с абас и форель на гриле. Единственное что тут плохо - это кофе, пока что в Боливии не научились его готовить, тут глаз да глаз. А все остальное просто идеально. Несмотря на старину, асьенда в отличном состоянии, кругом старинная мебель, картины, артефакты разных периодов, принадлежавшие жителям дома. В стоимость проживания включены экскурсии по асьенде, посещение действующей ГЭС 1909 года постройки и молочной фермы. До Потоси полчаса на машине, там тоже много всего интересного. Оставаться здесь нужно как минимум на неделю, чтобы успеть расслабиться и все посмотреть.
