We stayed at Tokoriki Island Resort in May 2023 & really enjoyed our stay. The room was fantastic, very spacious & really nicely decorated! We had the standard garden bure without the plunge pool, which didn't seem worth the extra cost to us personally, since each bure has it's only semi-private garden down to the beach anyway. We particularly enjoyed the deck area outside our room with loungers to sit & watch the sunset & also the hammock in the garden. The pool & restaurant area is also lovely & the staff are 5 star+, being both extremely friendly & professional at the same time. As others have said the food is also great & the ambience at night with the fire torches, guitar singers & level of service is top notch. All guests also get to dine in the Japanese restaurant one evening, which we particularly enjoyed as they have 8 guests around the same table as the chef cooks in front of you & they are very good at getting everybody talking & getting to know one another. The garden between the restaurant & rooms was also beautifully manicured it really did feel like a tropical paradise. The only very slight negatives we felt (& these are more just suggestions to improve the overall experience given the cost per night, but are in no way dealbreakers), is to clean / renovate the boats that take you from the ferry to the dock & also provide internet in the rooms. Regarding the boats we totally understand that they are open to the elements & therefore the hulls get dirty & tired over time, but as a comparison we have stayed at cheaper resorts of similar quality in Asia & French Polynesia etc & the boats were much newer & in better condition that those used at Tokoriki. Of course this is no big deal, but it just creates an overall better impression of the resort if your first experience of arriving there is clean / new boats to take you to the shore. Re the internet, again we completely understand the resorts policy on allowing guests to switch off by not having WiFi in the rooms, but we felt this was perhaps used as a bit of an excuse as it's easier for the hotel not to have routers / boasters throughout the island. Don't get me wrong we are middle-aged & not desperate to be on the internet, but by only providing internet around the lobby / restaurant area, it meant that at certain times of the day everybody was checking their phones before / after & during dinner, which they wouldn't have had to do if they could have checked periodically in their own rooms. Also we are all adults so surely we can decide if we want to switch off from the web or not when we are on holiday so let the guests make that decision rather than enforcing it? Please don't see this a criticism as such & overall we loved our stay at Tokoriki & would return again in a heartbeat, but they are a couple of little suggestions which we feel would take the hotel to even better levels of excellence.
