We stayed at the Conrad Chia Laguna for 7 nights and I have to say, while the hotel has great potential, it was a mixed experience. As a new Hilton franchisee, not everything has been brought up to the Conrad level yet. Firstly, the beautiful surroundings and wonderful stretch of sandy beach were a definite highlight. We enjoyed the convenient shuttle service to the beach and the great towel service provided. The lifeguards were some of the nicest staff we met. The relaxing spa was also a highlight, providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Additionally, the housekeeping was very good and while some items were occasionally forgotten, they were quick to respond to any issues. HH Diamond status recognition was also at least on par with other Conrad properties. However, there were some areas where the property could improve. For example, some critical staff members struggled with communicative English which led to frequent confusion during our stay. E.g. I asked for a shaving kit but was transferred to the room service ready to take my food order, which was a little frustrating. Another area that could use improvement is the on-site restaurants. While the prices were certainly at the Conrad level already, the quality of the food was not up to par. Oftentimes, the staff seemed to be walking around and watching, but not doing much else. On multiple occasions, they've forgotten our orders and it needed multiple reminders and long waits to get the check. The situation improved each time the F&B manager was around but that was unfortunately short-lived. There's also a noticeable lack of consistency in both meals and service. Menu item descriptions were often also inaccurate or translated into English incorrectly. E.g. Seabass with grilled vegetables came on spinach and no vegetables. "Chicken strips" turned out to be a single piece of breaded chicken breast. The buffet breakfast was also rather limited and unexciting compared to other Conrad properties we've stayed at. From my experience, even regular city-center Hiltons offer much more choice. The other guests were also visibly unhappy about this. I've never before witnessed situations with so many guests either refusing to pay, asking for a manager, or sending back their orders. Finally, the A/C was turned off during our stay and we were always greeted by a musty smell. This was not the most luxurious experience, but it was manageable. Overall, the Conrad Chia Laguna has some areas where it could improve, but it also has some real highlights worth experiencing. With some work, I'm sure this property could become a true gem.
