It usually takes me a couple of days on a vacation to get in a relaxed mode. I arrived at Bishops Lodge a ball of stress and was astonished to find just a few hours later feeling so relaxed and at peace. The resort rooms are scattered over the vast hillside property in which cars do not enter. The staff will assist you with a golf cart ride whenever needed. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. A talented designers take on a chic and livable Southwest theme. We stayed in the Pines group of rooms. The view is spectacular. The restaurant is so gorgeous with delicious food. If you didn’t want to leave the resort, you never have to worry about not eating beautifully. There is a gorgeous, well appointed terrace with an outdoor fireplace that is so lovely. The staff to a person was always kind. The service is sometimes slow, so pack a bit of patience, but they are so kind and caring it doesn’t matter. The views are stunning. It’s easy to understand why the spot has been chosen for almost 200 years as a peaceful place to contemplate the world. The pool is perfect- great size, and has a hot tub. The gym has fabulous equipment. We rode horses and also did a “creative living” painting session, which was so fun. The concierge was so helpful when we needed her. Great suggestions, and skilled at honing in on exactly what we wanted to do. The restaurant attracts visitors from outside the Bishops Lodge which made fun people watching and gave us opportunities to meet more people which was great. The resort is dog friendly, and it was so nice to meet so many wonderful pups. I can’t wait to go back.

Loved the food at the Skyfire restaurant. The general manager Joey Sholdra is so welcoming and engaging, you wont want to leave! Its rustic and elegant decor is very appealing you feel right at home.

Had a wonderful visit to Bishop's Lodge. Everyone from the valet and front desk to the restaurant and housekeeping teams were incredibly welcoming and made our stay memorable. Our room was spacious and had everything we could've wanted. The property itself is beautiful. 100% would return.

I wish I had read the review from December detailing all the issues the other traveler had, as our experience was sadly similar. My husband and I don’t mind spending money for a 5 star experience—I literally never think about money spent at a Four Seasons for example because the service is so stellar and absolutely worth it. This place made me constantly irritated we were spending money here. While the room was pretty, it was poorly designed for comfort (flimsy robes, hooks and seating in inconvenient locations) but that wasn’t the most frustrating aspect, which was the overall lack of care and poor guest service. —The hot tub was broken and would not heat up. We had not been informed and walked all the way down in the flimsy robes (and then all the way back up). Spoke to another guest who said she had called and had been waiting for over an hour for someone to show up. —Patio door lock was broken, unable to secure the room. —We had made reservations at the restaurant weeks beforehand. Despite this we were left waiting for over 15 minutes with no staff contact. My husband went to the host stand and was told someone would be right over. No one came. I finally called a restaurant in town for a reservation, Zacatlan (highly recommend), and left without eating so can’t comment on the restaurant. —Called for a pickup, items were still outside our door in the morning —Waited over 25 minutes for a cart to pick us up even after another staff member called again after seeing us standing around outside for so long —Minimal sound proofing. Could hear the guests upstairs tromping around for hours. Could not sleep well as a result. —Sheets were over-starched and scratchy, not soft and luxurious like Auberge properties in California where we have had vastly better experiences —Despite being offered a late checkout and telling the front desk we planned a noon checkout, staff attempted to enter our room around 11am. The only good thing I can say is that the valet and golf cart staff were nice and helpful, the shower was great, and the views are gorgeous. Despite this I would avoid this property which doesn’t come close to a 5 star experience, unfortunately I’ve had better service at a 3 star hotel.

We stayed for a long weekend. My hike in the morning had amazing views. The Lodge House was incredible. We had three fireplaces in the house. Perfect for a family. It was nice to sit outside with the stars and outdoor fireplace. Can’t wait to come back.

Wow ! What a beautiful resort . We usually stay at another hotel down the road . We booked thru Amex Fine Hotels and we will definitely stay here again . They have gone to such detail to create a serene eco friendly relaxing stay . The staff all around is so friendly , accommodating and open to feedback ( my trail map recommend). From the welcome staff at the fire pit , the reception, the wait staff , bartenders ,housekeeping - everyone is lovely . Aside from the usual luxury amenities, these are the reasons why we loved this place : 1) awesome gym - seriously not the usual hotel gym 2) silly - killer hairdryer ! It took like 5 minutes to dry my hair . So powerful ! 3) healthy breakfast options ( granola , grain bowl , just to name a few ) 4) loaner cars 5) a terrific hike (5-7 miles ) right off the property . We loved that we didn’t need to drive to see great vistas . 6) black out curtains & a wonderful mattress ! 7) room snacks - silly but little things make a difference . I had a silly thing happen with the bathroom door but the staff went above and beyond to correct the mishap .

We chose this resort for the activities listed on the website. We attempted to book fly fishing and horseback riding four times with zero response. My teens were bored and we had to find other things to do. The hiking trails were lovely and uncrowded. Construction equipment in the stable area. Noisy at times.

Bishop's Lodge is in a class all of its own. The service, the amenities, the team, the food, the environment, and all the smallest details made it a phenomenal experience for our girl's getaway! Thank you Dennis, Alex, Caden, Chris, Jeff, Marianna, and Violet for taking impecciable care of us.

Beautiful facility, rooms very spacious and inviting and the fireplace was marvelous. I arrived at midnight and the front desk personnel were waiting for me and drove me to my room. It was 28 degrees and I walked into a warm room with a fire glowing in the fireplace. The room had a blacony with a lovely view and a fireplace! Food was excellent.
