We had a lovely few days here at the beginning of March. We knew that the hotel had been going through some bad times recently but we're pleased to report that it is on the up again. Admittedly it does need a bit of investment but it was comfortable and welcoming. We had heard some bad reports about the place but our experience was quite enlightening and it put all our worries to rest. Our room on the ground floor overlooked the gardens and it was a nice size, clean and very comfortable. It got a little bit chilly through the night so we asked for a small heater the following morning and we were given one with no problems whatsoever. It made us much more comfortable during the night. The food has improved tremendously and despite our trepidations we were very pleased. The breakfast choice was quite extensive, with a choice of cereals, full English breakfast or continental. The evening dinner menu had lots of choice and everything was prepared to a very good standard. There were no worries at all. Sadly, on one day, just before 4am, the fire alarm went off and kept on going off. We later discovered that some "kind person" had deliberately triggered the alarm activation devices on every floor. Not funny. When we spoke to the engineer later that morning he was going to go through the CCTV recordings to identify the culprit. We must give our sincere thanks to the manager Siri, who is an absolute gentleman. Nothing was too much trouble and he always went out of his way to help. His professionalism, politeness and efficiency are second to none. To paraphrase Arnie, "We'll be back".
