Travelodge Sunderland Central

Wasn’t expecting luxury as only 2* but staff and cleanliness made up for having to collect hairdryer from reception not a hardship. Tea and coffee in room and lots available at reception as well. Spoke to a lovely member of staff called Amy she was so knowledgeable of the area and nothing to much trouble. She you again soon Amy 😊

The room were big, clean and quiet. I loved the bed as they were comfortable and got good sleep. Might visit again when on business.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to assist us. Although the room was very basic it was very clean. It was ideal for our overnight stay

Another lovely stay at this travelodge. Stayed in January and really enjoyed it so booked again in April. Just can't fault it. Bed comfy, room spotless, staff friendly and helpful and lots of lovely hot water. What's not to like. We will definitely return soon

I have been staying in this Travelodge for the past 9 weeks, all I can say is its perfect,, the situation of it to the town centre, the cleanliness, the staff are lovely and very very helpful and courteous, I'd really recommend this hotel to anyone

Lovely stay ,very friendly staff especially Amy she was extremely helpful also very clean rooms. Amy was more than helpful when directing us to local places for food etc. ... I would highly recommend the travelodge at Sunderland Central. I shall be returning here very soon .

we were moved from newcastle to sunderland because of a flood. We didn’t manage to get there until past midnight. We got there it wasn’t very clean, hairs in the bathroom and muck on the carpet. At 3:30am the fire alarm went off, it was “linked to the pub next door and it’s fine there’s no fire”. I wanted to go back to sleep but was paranoid that nobody had actually checked that there was no fire. The pubs alarm was still going off and the travelodge alarm was going off every hour in our rooms. I eventually had to call the fire brigade myself as none of the staff did it. That’s extremely poor public liability safety and I was extremely angry. The pubs alarm didn’t stop going off until 7am the next day. We will never be staying here again, although we didn’t even choose to. I have to tried to be in contact to get a full refund but the number on the website says it’s “wrong”. I am so unhappy, I had 3 hours sleep all night.

Room was clean, warm and comfortable. Location is very central, although we did have some overnight outside noise due to facing a main road. Did not spoil our trip though. The Price of room was very reasonable considering you are in a central location with plenty of restaurants and shops. Would stay here again.

However, my room did smell of smoke and chemicals which made my eyes sting. Not sure what was going on. Checkout was instant as there is nothing to charge for (pay upfront and no phones or minibars). Get a church facing room to avoid street noise.
