Pricey and noisy hotel. Located just in front the port. Installations are old and needing renovation. To get up to our room we had to climb stairs, as no lift was available. Nice architecture style though. Staff was ok. For the same money or even less, there are better places to stay in Stone Town.

If you are looking for modern do not stay here. But if you love things old and charming, you will love the Mizingani Seafront Hotel, with its maze of wooden staircases, old style furniture, red polished floors and the charming features of a bygone era. We stayed in the Princess Salme room overlooking the Seafront. The room was more of a suite than a simple room - large and spacious and appointed with a very efficient aircon, ceiling fan, kettle, television, elaborate throne style chairs and couch and a good sized ensuite bathroom with basic toiletries supplied. The bed was comfortable, and for the first time during our whole week on Zanzibar, we were actually warm...This hotel provides a duvet, which in our experience, is quite unique in Zanzibar. Most accommodation establishments only provide a sheet which isn't enough in the winter months when temperatures drop to the low 20s celcius and we ,who live in Africa, really feel cold. Breakfast was a pleasant array of pastries, crepes, fruit and yoghurt, juice etc and was served on a balcony restaurant with views stretching over the bay. (I am not sure whether a cooked breakfast was available, but we did not ask.) We were only there for a night so did not have much interaction with the staff, but we found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. Top tip: Although our room was charming with gorgeous views, if available, I would opt for a room on the other side of the hotel. We found the noise off the street during the night, a little overwhelming.

I had paid for the luxe double room. For me a working safe is very important because of the cash in my phones. The safe didn’t work. Hadn’t worked apparently in a long time because the batteries were totally corroded. They try to get batteries from another room. They didn’t work. I asked for a room with a working safe. I got another room with a working safe but it was definitely a standard room. Small, very small balcony, and the bathroom both of the freaking joke. You couldn’t even get to the toilet you had to step over the toilet to sit on the toilet. The breakfast offerings were OK if you came early enough. If you came during the last hour most of the stuff was gone. There are a lotSmall local all the style hotels around in the neighborhood for $20-$30 less. The one thing this hotel has it going is its location. It is the closest place that you can stay when you get off the ferry. But I do not recommend staying there. There are other options that are much much better and actually are a lot cheaper.

The building itself is magnificent and it really feels like you're in history. The staff are incredible - so friendly and helpful. I told them it was my husband's birthday and they sent up a cake to the room ＜3 The room itself was cute and traditional with a lovely little balcony. The only issue was the bathroom layout - not very easy to fit into and the shower had no screen so you couldn't help make a mess. This may have only been our room though - bigger rooms were probably better. Breakfast was also ok - being vegetarian it didnt have a great selection for me but it was fine. The location is great - I mean, Stonetown is not big but this is an ideal location as it is right next to ferry terminal.

Beautiful hotel overlooking the ocean. The room was huge and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was really good, the best we had on our holiday! We used the pool which was also welcome relief from the hot streets. Easy to find and very close to the streets and restaurants

I regret to report that our stay at the Mizingani Seafront Hotel in February 2024 was extremely disappointing. The rooms were outdated and lacked proper amenities such as functioning air conditioning and safety deposit boxes. Even the presidential suite was not exempt from these issues. Additionally, the rooms were poorly lit, and the traditional showers left pools of water on the floor, creating a safety hazard. In one of the rooms, we even encountered cockroaches, which was unacceptable. The condition of the pool was equally disappointing, with a film covering its surface and broken, jagged tiles. Despite raising these concerns with the management, their response was unhelpful and unsympathetic. However, it's worth mentioning that the staff themselves were kind, helpful, and did their best to assist us within their limitations. Overall, our experience was so unsatisfactory that we decided to check out early (the 3 rooms and lost 1-night stay $$$). I would advise against staying at the Mizingani Seafront Hotel.
