도멘 드 몽불라흐(Domaine de Montboulard)

A fabulous (and not expensive) accommodation near Angulême. It is a magnificently restored old farm. Breakfast is very good. It also has a big swimming pool, which I guess you can use during summer. It is a quiet place, but well connected to the main roads in the area.

What a fabulous place. We ended up staying and extra night as we loved it so much. A peaceful retreat with wonderful gites and they also offer B&B. Emma was such a great host and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the duplex gite and it was spacious, clean and we even had fresh bread and pastries delivered to our door every morning. The grounds are superb with a large heated swimming pool. I would 100% recommend its a wonderful place to relax and a great location to explore the area.

The secluded location at the end of a long drive through a wood was delightful considering the hotel is in such easy reach of Angoulême. A beautiful experience.

An unexpected change in plans had my husband and I looking for a place (at the last minute) to stay in Charente. I was not optimistic as we had our three dogs with us. Ugh. What kind of place would accept us? I was over the moon to discover that Domaine de Montboulard would, Their first star came when they suggested which gite would be best/most comfortable for us. Second came with the casual, warm welcome on our arrival. Third came with the spacious, comfortable, and CLEAN rooms with our own enclosed backyard. Fourth was that despite freezing temperatures (it was January), the rooms were toasty warm, yet with the high ceilings and space, were never stifling. The fifth star might be because of the endless walks around the grounds and surrounding forest, or maybe, the convenience to shops, boulangerie and just about anything you want within minutes. No, I think the fifth comes because the owners were so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. NOTE: don't let the fact that they take pets put you off. Their accommodations are clean and fresh!

After 4 nights in the city apartment run by the same proprietors, we were sadly disappointed by the gite. The back door was badly rotted, about to disintegrate and held together with grey duct tape. It did not close properly never mind lock.The front door wasn't much better. The sofa was smelly ( perhaps too many dogs enjoyed its fading comfort). The kitchen was a strong feature. No mosquito screens on the windows meant we were "consumed" in bed. One fan was provided in one of the two bedrooms not both. The TV was not checked and we spent a frustrating 24 hrs trying to get signal from a system which was faulty. The gite could do with a timely makeover save of course for the kitchen Beds and bedlinen were additional strong features. The location suffers from road noise from the arterial route nearby. Disappointing.

This was our second stay at Domaine de Montboulard, as we were very pleased the first time we visited. Both times we have been extremely happy with our gite. The rooms are specious, the kitchen and bathrooms are functional, everything is tidy. The beds are comfortable. There are nice little unique details in the gites. There is a big, clean heated pool, with deck chairs around it. You get special towels you can use at the pool area. The surroundings are peaceful; yet you are only a few minutes away from shopping opportunities, and about 15-20 minutes from the centre of Angouleme. The owners are very friendly, and are available in case of any questions. We loved our stay, thank you for a fantastic holiday!

Deumeure typique de la Charente, dans la forêt de Soyaux, grande cour accueillante, belles chambres spacieuses, confort moderne, rénovée avec goût, tres bonne literie. Parking , petit dejeuner convivial et complet. Accueil multilingues parfait

Lieu magnifique, piscine et parc agréable, literie ok pas de TV dans la chambre.
